"Good hotel, would definitely stay there again"

10.0

Hotel is perfect, service is great and staff is very helpful. My only comment is that the mattress comfort was slightly below average for good hotel standards. I liked the modern/casual hotel atmosphere and they went above and beyond in accommodating my family and the baby.

"Good value (for St Petersburg) hotel"

8.0

The hotel was within 30 mins walk of the Hermitage, Mariinsky Theatre, Nevsky Prospect etc. The desk staff were helpful, young and as obliging as possible. The hotel had a policy of giving 1 free bottle of water each at beginning of stay and after that we were meant to provide our own. This was despite being told not to drink the tap water. The room was clean and the bed comfortable but many channels on the TV were inaudible due to volume control and the hotel was unable or unwilling to rectify the problem. We loved the red bathroom with its heated floor and the funky decor. There was a dirty septic smell in the bathroom and in the hallway caused by the P-trap in the plumbing in the floor drying out. My husband ran the shower into the floor waste thus fixing the problem for our room but the smell remained in the hall outside. The front desk has been advised and how to fix the issue but we don't know it that has happened.

"Great hotel not too far from city centre."

10.0

Very helpful staff. Good value door quality of hotel. Only worry was that might be too far from city centre but regular bus service just round the corner and only minutes to centre.

"Great hotel in good location"

10.0

This hotel was perfect for our family - we booked a suite which had 2 rooms with 2 double beds. The breakfast was very good and the hotel service was fantastic - they even made us breakfast boxes to take on our early morning train trip. The location is good - it's a 10 minute walk to the marinisky theatre and once you find the bus it's really handy to get everywhere. The hotel is modern and very warm (much needed!) I would definitely recommend as an excellent affordable hotel option in St Petersburg.

"Hotel for those looking for urban vibe environment"

8.0

Positives: New hotel in a great condition. Decently sized rooms and bathroom. Nice urban décor with predominant red colour and graffiti on the walls with a different theme for every floor. Very nice and helpful staff speaking good English (a rarity in Russia in my experience). Good location for Mariinsky theatre and Holland island park. Next to the post office and a number of 24h grocers and pharmacies. Negatives: 25 min walk to major museum sites and city centre but great if you like walking along canals. No metro, just bus lines, which means you need to know where to get off. drivers don't tend to speak English. For a four star hotel, one would expect the shampoo, gel and usually conditioner and body cream as a standard rather than a hand soap dispenser in a shower.

"Basic hotel at reasonable price, for Russia"

8.0

Staff very nice; breakfast buffet had good food and variety. Hotel charged wife and I $50 (USD) for a tourist invitation leter, which I thknk is extortion, given that we prepaid $600 f or three nights at a hotel that is a $10 to $20 cab fare fromany place of tourist interest. Better to stay closer and pay the higher rate. No tourist restaurants near the hotel. Plus the St. Pet ersburg cabs are mostly private moonlighters and very marginal. So the hotel is decent but the $50 invite charge is an insult and the location is very remote. Plus the streets in thst part of town are best avoided. Visit Poland or Prague or Viennia but avoid Russia.

"Great, quirky hotel"

10.0

I can with my husband and our friends for 2 nights in St Petersberg. We arrived very early in the morning and went immediately to the hotel to deposit our bags. The staff all spoke English, and were extremely helpful. We put our bags in left luggage and went out for the day. We were really impressed with the cleanliness, quirkiness and individuality of the hotel. It was about a 20 minute walk to the centre, which wasn't too bad. Also, the buss 22 stops around the corner. The location is very close to the Mariinsky Theatre. I would highly recommend this hotel, and would certainly return. Well done!

"Excellent VFM! totally recommended"

8.0

I just travel with my wife (we are 28) to St. Petersburg at the end of september beginning of October and stay at the Red Stars hotel. In my opinion the stance at the hotel was very good, it has most of the facilities of a 5 star hotel, its very, very clean, bathroom floor is heated and the design on the hotel walls makes it feel very friendly, at least for young couples. The staff is young and cooperative, they can guide you in your way to the main city attractions. Breakfast was good and also they give you the choice to prepare some special meals as eggs and some others as an option to the continental breakfast. The weakest point of the hotel could be its location. Even though is not really far from anything or in a bad location we just found that if you don't want to spend a great amount in taxi cabs the only way to get there is by bus (Line 22). At first was a bit difficult to find line 22 and to understand where you have to stop as people won't give you many clues, however after mastering there was not a problem in taking the bus everyday (25 roubles p/ person) Totally recommended!
