"nice get away"

8.0

The lake Tahoe area can get very crowded, what we liked about Holiday house was it's quiet seclusion from all the crowds and noise. The rooms are clean and somewhat comfortable. A little upgrade on the furniture would be nice but did not detract from our stay. If you want modern fancy rooms go to one of the large Tahoe resorts for about $300 per night, I'll come back to the Holiday House for it's relaxed setting and great views

"Matches Vibe of N. Lake Tahoe. Quaint with Nature."

10.0

The stay at Holiday House was perfect. The hotel has a very convenient locaton, you are one minute drive from King's Beach and five minute drive from Tahoe City. The hotel amenities were very simple and exactly what you need. Clean bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen. The hotel has a grill you can use on the patio that overlooks the lake. There is a swimming area right on the lake and you can sit on the beach chairs. It's not a sandy beach, but more of a bouldery one. It's perfect for having a drink and reflecting over sunset. If you are the type of person that needs a modern luxurious hotel, unfortunately, there aren't alot of options in lake tahoe that provides that. What Holiday House provides is an accomodation that is simple and surrounded with the view of the lake. Those views are just gorgeous. If you look at the pictures, it's exactly what you get. What the pictures don't capture is the beautiful energy of the property. The sound of the lake that greets you right at your door. I've stayed in so many places and I just can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel.

"Worth Coming Back To, 9 yrs + Counting!"

10.0

I'm reluctant to share this gem. I want to keep it a secret! It's on the lake, and by that I mean you'll see and hear the waters lashing at the shore. You'll see spectacular vistas of the mountains surrounding the lake. It's woodsy, but civilized enough. No flat screen TV's. Free wireless, but you know, I didn't access email once, during this last trip. It's pet friendly, and the proprietress, Alvina, has a beautiful German Shepard, to whom you might have the good fortune to be gently introduced. I think it's very romantic, and my wife agrees. Our two children also love it. It's about three miles to the Nevada state line, so there are casinos and ski areas, nearby. If you believe in supporting wonderful, family owned and operated, one-of-a-kind places, that really appreciate your business, I recommend it, highly. But it isn't a Holiday Inn. There are plenty of plastic places like that, especially on the South Shore. It's the Holiday HOUSE. And it feels like one!

"Close to Squaw Valley and Emerald Bay"

6.0

View of lake great, furnishings need updating badly, patio table cracked and broken. Furniture probably 27+ years old, soiled and torn. Innkeeper very nice.

"Poor service and overpriced"

Poor service and rudeness. Room was in poor condition. Tariff should have half the price for what was there. Great location. Owners totally disinterested in hospitality.

"Great rustic getaway"

10.0

This was one of the few hotels that actually faced the lake - a real jewel with only 6 suites. It was a beautiful view - could not get enough of the scenery through the huge windows. The kitchenette was perfect for breakfast and lunch preparation and even a simple dinner - small refrigerator, coffee machine, microwave, toaster, small cooktop and oven. I don't go on vacation to cook, so it worked out well for my husband and me. It is very rustic - tongue and groove pine paneling in all rooms, even the bathroom. Coffee, Tazo tea, salt and pepper, and sugar were all provided by Alvina, the owner, who is a jewel herself. Comfortable bed with lovely sheets, fresh towels everyday if you want them, nice sofa was a queen sleeper but we never opened it, lots of chairs/pillows/coverlets outside on the deck for your comfort. If you like rustic, charming inns, you will love the Holiday House. If you like the glitz and luxury of the Ritz-Carlton or the Sheraton, you might not be happy here - but you will miss a great experience!
