Having stayed at a number of all-inclusive resorts across different countries, this was unfortunately the worst experience we’ve had.
All-Inclusive Offering
The all-inclusive package felt extremely limited and cost-cutting at every turn. We were surprised to have to pay extra for things like slushies for the kids, and most drinks were unbranded (aside from Amstel beer). Drinks were typically served in paper cups unless you specifically asked for a glass at dinner or poured your own wine. There was no table or drinks service at all.
The main restaurant was far too small for the size of the hotel and felt more like a canteen than a relaxed dining space. The food offering was poor - basic, limited choice, and lacking variety.
- Breakfast: Generally okay, with a fresh omelette and egg station being a highlight.
- Lunch: Served at the pool bar - decent but repetitive. Expect pizza, pasta, nuggets, onion rings, toasties, and chips. The ordering system was inefficient
- Dinner: Very underwhelming. Only two meat options each evening, a poor salad bar, and desserts that were genuinely abysmal, often half-frozen cakes or an apple, banana or orange. No melon available at any point.
The handling of ice cream summed things up: the all-inclusive freezer was removed outside lunch hours, while branded options were locked away unless you paid extra.
Room
The room itself was spacious but very basic. Storage was lacking (no bedside tables), and there were no toiletries provided. Cleaning was only done every other day, and we experienced issues with a leaky shower that flooded the bathroom floor and inconsistent hot water.
On a more positive note, the safe was free, and the room included useful cooking facilities (fridge/freezer, hob, microwave). However, towels were very small, and noise carried easily - especially on lower floors, where you could hear everything from above.
Unfortunately, we also had clothing items go missing, which we can only assume were taken during cleaning.
Pool Area
The pool area felt dated and in need of a major refresh. Sun loungers were extremely uncomfortable - sagging in the middle with no adjustability. The layout felt cramped, with guests positioned very close together. The pool itself was quite cold, though that was expected for April.
Facilities
The so-called “lounge bar” was particularly poor - more reminiscent of a dated working men’s club than a hotel bar. There weren’t enough tables, and the atmosphere was uninviting. WiFi was only available in reception, which was inconvenient.
Check-in was also frustrating, with rooms not available until 4pm despite arriving at lunchtime.
Location
The standout positive. The hotel is in a fantastic location, with plenty of bars, shops, and supermarkets nearby. It’s close to Aqualand and Siam Park, and within walking distance of the beach where there are much better dining options.
Staff
Staff interaction was minimal and lacked warmth. We usually enjoy building rapport on family holidays, especially travelling with young children, but that simply didn’t happen here.
Summary
Overall, it felt like guest experience was not a priority. The focus seemed to be on cutting costs wherever possible, resulting in poor quality and limited choice throughout. We were aware this was a more budget-friendly option, but at £2,500 for a family of four for a week, we expected better.
In the end, we chose to spend more time away from the hotel, taking part in paid activities and eating out for 2 of the 7 nights, which says a lot.
A great location, but unfortunately not enough to make up for everything else.
