Gasthof zur Post

The hotel is located in Hinteriss, a very small village in the beautiful Risstal. If you are looking for a typical Austrian hotel, close to nature, then you are in the right place. The immediate area is amazing! The hotel is built in Austrian style, with a lot of wood. The hotel also has a beautiful wellness area. From the swimming pool you look out over the Karwendel mountains.

The majority of the staff was unwelcoming and actually pretty rude. I have slept in quite a few hotels but have not experienced this often. Especially in Austria I have always had good experiences. For example, I did not see a smile at the face of the staff and I found the attitude downright arrogant. Twice we sat down at an empty table but were ordered to sit at another table by means of a gesture. And because we had little time for breakfast (we still had to drive 800km home that day) we decided to take two Kaiserbrötchen with us for the road. According to the owner of the hotel these absolutely had to be charged. For two small Kaiserbrötchen from an all-in breakfast buffet? Seriously? I was also disappointed that we had to pay a lot to use the swimming pool. The swimming pool was, after a few days of hiking in the Karwendel mountains, one of the reasons why we chose this hotel. And I understand that the entire spa treatment is not included, but I have never had to pay for a swimming pool in a hotel. Anyway; strange habits at this hotel.

Very nice Gasthof, immaculately clean. We had a room on 3rd floor overlooking rear of hotel to the river and mountains Friendly people. Very good restaurant with great food at dinner. Excellent breakfast with hose made jam/marmalade and local honey Very convenient location if you are exploring the area

The swimming pool, the view, the area is gorgeous

The staff is pretty rude, poor social skills, not welcoming at all, with a pissed off face all the time. They didn't even offer napkins at the restaurant, when I asked for one, someone offered me a tissue from the toilet. The place is in the middle of nowhere, not reachable by public transport, only twice a day during the week, I had to pay 90eur taxi to get there.

In a small town with many hiking to do, good size of the room with a balcony with a great view. Bed was good and big for a single room. Breakfast is very good. Food prices are fare.

Staff was not very friendly.
