"Construction noise "

We booked this hotel for a romantic night away. Staying at the James is a treat as it’s more pricy than our usual choices. The beds, linens and suite were all wonderful. The breakfast, delicious and lovely. What wasn’t lovely was that we were not informed there was a construction situation in the room directly across from us. We wanted to have a leisurely morning in our suite before checking out and heading home to reality. But the hammering / banging made it impossible to hear ourselves think, let alone relax. We called down to ask for it to be dealt with, they said they’d check into it but we never heard back a thing. We checked out earlier than we wanted to and headed home with disappointment.

This hotel is amazing! I have never had a hotel experience like the James! The staff are incredible. The front desk staff are so sweet and helpful and kind. The restaurant staff are out of this world. Esp Jill. The food was so perfect! The room. Oh the room. Huge, clean, big balcony with a river view. The bathtub - oh my. Amazing. The bed is like sleeping on a cloud. Free parking. Never had trouble finding a spot. Breakfast with a chef. Unreal. I can’t say enough about this hotel - but I’ve booked next July already! Thank you to everyone at the James for everything!

The rooms are spacious but the property is very dated. The food isn’t great. The staff are nice and the location is not centrally located. The lounge is closed on Sundays which is inconvenient.
