Grand Palladium Colonial Resort & Spa All Inclusive

The actual hotel grounds and facilities such as the pools, beach, gym bars etc are great. The food is awful, consistently cold in both restaurants and buffets and the safety standards are very questionable, witnessed chefs handling raw and cooked food with the same utensils and guest use one utensil in different pans increasing the risk of cross contamination which is dangerous for those with an allergy or dietary requirements. We were both sick from the food at different points of the holiday, my partner felt so ill that we spoke to the concierge about seeing the doctor and they told us to try the medications in the gift shop first and if they didn’t work we could see the doctor, which is clearly a money making scheme as I had to paid £15 for a small bottle of pepto bismal and £24!!! For some Imodium. I would not normally leave a negative review however I felt this was necessary as the concierge asked about our concerns when we were leaving and said they took them very seriously, he then sent us an email to detail the feedback and came over and asked if my partner would complete it whilst he was there, he made him skip all of the questions we had made complaints on and tried to get him to submit a five star review when this was not our experience.

Very good spa was great, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, would go back for spa experience alone, champagne and chocolate strawberry

My wife and I got an amazing eco Mayan massage with Berenice and Mayel. They were very kind and were able to adjust pressures when requested. I’ve never felt more relaxed

Eslé was very professional and gave a great treatment for massage, worked well my tight shoulders and back, adapted to my injured shoulder with ease

First the good: beautiful grounds, gorgeous lobby, wonderful animals everywhere, and many gracious staff members. The not so good: our slider door would not lock upon arrival. We were tired and could not go to sleep waiting and waiting for assistance. We finally walked back to check in (which is far - everything is far because the resort is unmanageably huge) where the front desk person promised to send someone. We politely declined this offer since we had already waited over an hour. Finally he agreed to change our room (the resort was not busy). No one showed up to help us move so we “broke into” our old room to retrieve our belongings ourselves so we could finally go to bed. The new room had no hot water at the bath, a non-working fridge, a broken vanity mirror, a broken safety chain on the door…you get the idea. The staff would randomly phone our room early. We finally unplugged our phone to stop the interruption. One morning early a man showed up and walked right in our door (because safety chain wasn’t working) to replace the fridge (we never requested it because the selection was so bad we didn’t use it). He proceeded to change the fridge WHILE WE LAID IN THE BED!! The food was ok. The drinks watered down. The doors were nearly inoperable to unlock. A la carte restaurants hard to get into and not great when we did. I think one could do better than this resort. I don’t believe it is well managed. Sad because has potential.

My daughter and I absolutely enjoyed aqua fitness with Carlos! He has such a fun and friendly personality that you can’t help but smile the entire time. Carlos is super positive, engaging, and always brings great energy! Good job and keep up a good work!

Great resort! Ricardo was the best bartender at Colonial pool bar! My son has a severe dairy allergy, and we requested the blender be washed out each time. He began to know us by our fave and would wash the blender without being asked. We had a great experience!!

The Grand Palladium Colonial Resort is beautiful and all the staff were very friendly. I just found the beach to not be that nice in comparison to others. The room was just average with weak A/C. I had to ask multiple times for shampoo/body wash/ soap to be restocked. I also found many things were an extra charge, where at other all inclusive they would have been included in the resort price (water sports, room service, certain restaurants). I really liked the pool but wish they had servers coming around with drinks, like other resorts. Overall was a nice experience but think money could have gone farther elsewhere.

Overall a solid stay at the Grand Palladium Colonial. Our stay started off a little rough with a room that hadn’t been properly attended to prior to check in, however, this was sorted out quickly given our late check in time and how busy the resort kart and lobby was. After this start, the rooms and facilities remained fairly clean for such a busy resort, with minor issues across the areas we visited. Any issues we faced throughout our stay were resolved quickly and well by the well trained concierge and service teams. My partner has celiac disease and is unable to eat gluten which gives us issues even back home in Canada, however, all restaurants EVEN the sports bar could accommodate her needs. The steakhouse El Dorado was fantastic with this and easily the best experience we had, with great service and the most options we found across the resort. If we had tried them on our first night there’s a chance we would’ve been eating steak all week LOL. The buffets were a bit more difficult with her needs but that was expected given the nature of celiac, service staff were still very helpful and we made-do looking out for cross-contamination between tongs (and guests fingers) and sticking to yogurt cups and fruit for breakfast, as well as the gluten free bread which we found one morning as well. Pools and bars were in good shape and gave us a great experience, both watered down some but with the heat we were alright with that. Once again, El Dorado being fantastic with the nicest cocktails we had all week being from the bartender there. Beaches were as expected, nice water and a little rocky but we got our fair share of use and body surfing, as well as a snorkeling expedition one afternoon which we really enjoyed. We can’t blame the resort for this but we might’ve drank too much and gotten minor alcohol poisoning, losing a day of our trip to illness, but despite this and the issues we faced at check in we’re leaving today having said it was a good and enjoyable trip. Though we’re homebodies at heart, we’d consider coming back to the Colonial again in the future!
