Casa Encantada by Porta Hotels

El hotel es bien bonito pero recomiendo que tengan aire en todas las habitaciones. El personal fue muy amable y nos movió a la única habitación con A/c porque nuestra habitación parecía Sauna no tenía mucha ventilación

I was in town for a wedding and had a lovely stay. The rooms were clean, bed was comfortable, and staff was very friendly (though did not speak any English, which is fine, just make sure you have way to translate if you don't speak Spanish). The pool is very cold which is nice refreshing for hot days, but too cold at night. The two neighboring sister hotels were much nicer accommodations so it was nice to be able to quickly walk there to use their pool and for free breakfast. The only real negative about this hotel (besides that it has no AC, but most places don't), was that it is VERY VERY loud in the rooms in the morning and during the day, as the windows to the rooms are right on the street and heavy traffic starts as early as 5:30/6am that woke me up every morning. It is slightly better if you close the windows, but if it's hot, you want them open for air circulation. Also, if you want cold bottled water, they charge $5/bottle. Otherwise, this was a perfectly fine small hotel to stay at, though there are much nicer places to stay near by for the same rate, if not cheaper.

The small size, friendly staff, breakfast, and stepping stones to the room. Great location.

One night a loud outside fan to either AC or a heater (unsure which) upstairs on the balcony over our room was crazy loud late into the evening. We had asked for a room away from the street to avoid any street noise.

The only thing i did not like was there was no A/C in the room i stood in nor was there a screen to keep out bugs if i opened the window for fresh air at night. But with that being said the people on the property where very helpful, kind and the food was great and prices were good. its a very personal type of place to stay no big crowds and central to many things to do i would highly recommend staying as well as staying here again if i ever go back to Antigua.

Very nice boutique hotel! Great staff and breakfast. Room was very nice, but a little warm during the day. Loved our stay!

I had booked La Casa Encantada but was informed I'd been "upgraded" and, on arrival found I was in the Hotel Antigua which is another hotel in the same Porta group in the next block. At first I wasn't pleased, as I had fond memories of the Casa Encantada and had wanted to return. However, the Hotel Antigua was very comfortable, beautiful and had more facilities so was an acceptable substitute. The breakfast buffet was very good, as was the seafood ceviche I had for dinner one night. The swimming pool was lovely and warm and in a lovely setting. Everywhere was very clean.

I didn't like having my hotel of choice switched on me without being given a say. There were lots of parties/conferences going on in the Hotel Antigua so it wasn't as peaceful as the Casa Encantada would have been, but my room was in a quiet courtyard so the bustle of the common areas didn't penetrate. The staff were attentive and helpful but, possibly because it was a large hotel and very busy, gave the impression constantly of being terrified you'd bolt without paying so were very officious in checking room number and getting signatures. On arrival in the room, the only written information was about the various ways they would pursue you for payment if required, rather than the description of the hotel facilities I was expecting. There was no information about hotel facilities or local attractions.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to the suite, which was so nice. The breakfast was fantastic.

The location is great. The staff is excellent and helpful. Very clean and quaint.
