Hotel Encounter Nepal

Very friendly efficient and responsive staff both in the hotel and the restaurant. Nice environment, and good quality of service, including helpful pickup from the airport. We had opted for a 'budget room' which although pleasant enough and represented good value for money, was noisier at night than we had expected. It would have proved a better experience had we upgraded to the deluxe rooms in the main building and which would have been quieter. Would definitely return to the Hotel Encounter on any subsequent trip to Katmandu.

Great little hotel, the staff are so friendly and helpful. Whilst I booked a basic room this would be great in the hot season, whilst the evenings were cold I did upgrade with a better room with a heater, because the nights can be cold. The restaurant offer a excellent meal. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

Staff are friendly and helpful. The room was average but provided basic necessities like heater, tv, clean bed. The room cleaned daily during our stay. No problems with the bed, pillow, and sheets - all clean and were bug-free. No toiletries nor hairdryer provided. The latter may be available when requested. Overall, we had a good stay at this place.

Tucked within a secure courtyard just a couple short blocks from the heart of Thamel, Hotel Encounter is a friendly and comfortable hotel. Great service all around. Lovely outdoor restaurant, enjoyed the pancakes every morning.

Pick up from airport, excellent help planning a trek, and amazingly friendly staff.

Upon arrival we actually upgraded for a small fee to the newly renovated tower. The room was great, the only downside was that there was an open air vent between our bathroom and our neighbors. Other than that the rooms were superb for budget conscious travelers. In terms of the grounds, they were beautiful and we're secluded from the madness of Thamel as it was set back slightly from the street (located ~3 min walk to Garden of dreams). The breakfast was awesome and the service was spectacular. Overall we would stay again. One more note: the hotel supposedly offers a shuttle pick up for the airport, but make sure in advance. That was questionable.

Overall my experience in this hotel was very good and enjoyed my stay in this hotel except for a dog below my window that barked whole night and every night! But nothing that the hotel can do about it I guess. Overall the hotel has a very nice ambience and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Service in the restaurant seemed slow but this was very common in all the restaurants in Nepal I visited. Things that could be improved - the balcony could be cleaned and well maintained. A toilet brush is also something I missed. The mattresses could have been more soft and comfy. The bath tub could be provided with a stopper to be used for its actual purpose.
