Pros: The room was updated nicely, was spacious and had a pretty view of the square. The location in regards to walkability was great! The restaurant beneath also had a good breakfast.

Cons: The location, next to a very loud nightclub meant we didn’t sleep for 3 nights (Saturday, Sunday, Monday). We didn’t ask to switch rooms because we thought maybe it was just a Saturday thing, but no. Also, If it wasn’t the nightclub sound, it was car traffic from the busy road out front. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t choose this hotel again based on the noise level.

The hotel was a converted, spacious old building, right between the Centro Historico and the Colonia Americana. It bordered on a plaza with an old church catty-corner on the plaza It had a lovely and restaurant inside and cafe in the front--great for breakfast, with a very popular all-you-ca-eat buffet on the weekends. It felt completely safe. We stayed in the Tamayo suite, fancifully modeled with the famous artist in mind (though it stuck me as more Barragan than Tamayo). It had a free-standing copper bathtub in a small room adjacent to the bathroom (two sinks!) separated by a wall with two big portholes. The manager, Erendira, was outstanding. When our bus from San Pacho/Sayulita was cancelled because a truckers' strike had "closed" Guadalajara, she managed to turn up friends there who sometimes drove up to Guadalajara and offered to arrange for them to take us the next day. When we wanted tickets to the Calavanderia, a temporary Dia de los Muertos Theme park, and learned they were all sold out, she had a friend who was a designer for the affair and somehow found us a pair of tickets. When we could only buy then via a bank transfer, she made the payment herself until we could reimburse her in cash. She was invariably cheerful, knowledgeable, and friendly in handling all of our other questions and needs as well. She was, in short, the BEST.

Noise from a raucous gay bar down the plaza was a big problem at first, and it went on blaring til the middle of the night. Erenira said she had tried everything she could think of to get them to lower the volume, and we expected pay-offs had been made. Then, in the middle of our weekend stay, after Erendira had paid them another visit, the loud music somehow subsided.

Al estar cerca de una calle principal y ser un restaurante, el movimiento al menos en la habitación en que me hospeded, se escucha mucho, pero en general me gusto.

the bed was very comfortable. The staff are wonderful! Love that there are plants again on the wall!

need railings on those stairs. Also maybe paint them a different colour. The black makes it difficult to see where they start and stop.

Super bien ubicado a unas cuadras del centro.

The rooms were comfortable. The bed was excellent. The proximity to the historic Centro was convenient. The hotel has a young funky vibe which is fun

There is a cafe in an open interior courtyard. It can be quite loud during the day. There was also an outdoor cafe below the terrace of our room. They had live music which was nice but it went on rather late. We had an early flight so that was irritating. The biggest shortcoming is the lack of a coffee station in the room or lobby. The cafe opens at 8:00 so if your plans are earlier you are out of luck
