"Nice hotel in an amazing location "

8.0

Nice dog-friendly hotel. Rooms have recently been refurbished and are very nice. Good, friendly service from the staff. Food orders were a little slow coming out of the kitchen, but the staff explained that they were busy and a bit under-staffed. But the food was worth the wait. The location of the hotel is fabulous and the views of the loch from the garden are amazing. All in all, we had a very nice stay. Would stay again.

"Friendly and luxurious + memorable interior design"

10.0

Everything was spotlessly clean and brand new when I arrived. The refurbishment of the rooms was state-of-the-art and stylish but took a bit of getting used to as black was a predominate colour choice. After the initial surprise, I found the room had a cosy welcoming feeling and was really impressed by the bathroom. Everything was very comfortable and staff were extremely helpful in a relaxed and professional way. The food choice was varied and interesting and everything was cooked to perfection. My only (slight) gripe was that wine and whisky choices that I made from the menu turned out not to be available. This happened four or five times. On the plus side, the staff were helpful and knowledgeable in providing other choices and even gave me a free glass at one point by way of compensation. I would definitely recommend staying at the hotel.

"Great choice for a stop-over"

8.0

Our overnight stay was at the start of September 2020 so it was quiet, which was fine for me. The owner was very friendly and made us feel welcome. We had dinner and drinks in the bar (seabass - very tasty!) and chatted with another couple and their dog. There is a large dining hall but the bar had more character so we stayed there. As the weather was behaving itself we could sit outside for a bit and gaze over the water. This was tranquillity - it's so peaceful here. There's not much to Adfern but again that was absolutely fine by me. After a long drive from Mallaig, stopping off at Oban, I was happy for some peace and quiet. There is a sizeable boatyard close by and there was a small (well-behaved) group of young sailing types in the bar but I guess it was out of season perhaps. The room was absolutely fine (the Ghia room I think) and the bed was comfy. The bathroom was a decent size with a large shower. The Galley was a random choice as neither my wife nor I were familiar with this part of the country. I'm so glad we chose to stay here though - lovely place. We would definitely stay here again.

"Great stay in a lovely location"

Lovely stay in the hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Great views from the garden when sitting with a nice G + T or a bottle of wine. Pet friendly too, which is a bonus. Our dog loved running around the garden. Will definitely stay again :-)

"Heatless in the Highlands"

2.0

If like me your idea of a rainy winter weekend in the Highlands involves sitting in a comfy lounge chair by a roaring log fire then this is NOT the hotel for you. However if you have fond memories of the old Scottish Youth Hostels and their chilly bathrooms and don't mind making your own bed then it will suit you. Really if the only way you can enjoy reading the Sunday papers is to get into bed with all your clothes on then is it worth while travelling all these miles to the Highlands?
