Almond Beach Resort at Jaguar Reef

Such a gorgeous property! The staff were incredibly nice & helpful. I wish we would have had more time here!

During our time at Jaguar Reef the staff did their best to remember us by name and introduced themselves by name making it a very personal experience. The bed was comfortable and air conditioning was well maintained. The grounds were well maintained and always kept clean. I feel the need to mention a number of the staff on site. Nincy and Genesis were our hostesses at the Paddle House restaurant and they were amazingly friendly and helpful. The bartenders Jerry, Brandon, Lucas, Greg, and Edgar were great at remembering what we were drinking and making sure we had what we needed. Chris and RJ were great guest services representatives who would ask how we were and if there was anything we needed and were helpful resolving any concern we had. And who can forget Captain Larry, he is the grounds keeper who was always upbeat and quick to grab a flower to offer to me to brighten the day. Always smiling and having a positive spin on the day

The Good: -Captain Larry was a comical delight every morning. He was also incredibly helpful in recommendations for dinner. -Jerry the bartender was also awesome and super helpful. He is stationed at the pool bar which happened to be right next to our bungalow so it worked out great! The Bad: -We were told at arrival that we would need a credit card with the raised numbers (embossed) in order to charge things to the room. I had just called the day prior and this was never mentioned. So we were unable to charge to the room and had to bring cash/cc with us everywhere we went. -The bungalows are a little dated but given the area, it was not a deal breaker for us. -The beds though were really hard and not comfortable. The outdoor shower would clog and pool up shortly after turning on and the door leading to the shower was busted with no way to secure it. The Ugly: -I called a few times and went to the front desk personally to ask them to look at the shower, they never came. -We ordered room service the first day after a long day of travel and even though the order was said back to us with everything included, things were left out and never delivered (we were never charged for them). I did order a kids cheese burger medium that came on the raw/rare side. Save yourself a trip and head over to Barracudas for breakfast and literally anywhere else for lunch and dinner. -The seaweed wasn't horrible when we were there but it was on the ground for them to clean. Instead of taking it away, they would rake it up along with shore and leave it, including any and all trash. I saw bottles, light bulbs, shoes, etc in the piles. Would have been nice if they cleaned that up to ensure it didn't go back into the ocean.

The staff was super friendly and helpful! RJ did a wonderful job of ensuring that my family & I were well aware of all that the resort had to offer!

This resort was amazing! All of the staff was so welcoming especially Captain Larry, Alex, Mark, Big Sexxxy and all the others whos names I can't remember even though they all knew my name and would greet me everytime I saw them. The Snorkeling and Bioluminescent tours were outstanding. The room and food was top notch. My only concern was the leaves constantly falling in the outdoor shower and private plunge pool, but there's not much the resort could do to fix that. Amazing vacation and I'll be back for sure!

We were welcomed by a friendly Julio! Beautiful property. Felt like long time friends with RJ and Captain Larry within minutes. Thanks for the Garifuna food suggestions and local connections. The Palapa big bar has trampoline daybeds over the water, a rope swing, and 2nd story planks to jump in! So fun.

A great place in a great location. The beach is right there and the pool overlooks the beach. Fun swim up bar and dock bar. The daybed hammocks on the dock are amazing. It’s also a quick ride into the town of Hopkins. There were a few minor hiccups with the room, but the staff was attentive in getting it all solved. We especially liked Captain Larry!
