"Bright and cozy pousada located in one of the nicest streets in Pelourinho"

10.0

This pousada does not have many rooms so make sure to book early. It is located 100m from the party streets so you will be able to enjoy a good sleep. It is carefully decorated with very nice and cozy taste. Rooms are large with very high roofs. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast is very good.

"Simple and Great Pousada very well located"

10.0

We stayed 4 nights at this place and we loved it. Place is very clean, located in a quiet but very safe street. Location was great, in the high part of Pelourinho, and just 5-6 minutes walking from elevator, very well located indeed. A police post is located just 20 metres from the Pousada (B&B), indeed, when police changes shift, they take a rest at this Pousada, so it cannot be safer. Rooms are spacious and well equipped with great bathrooms and well functioning air-con. Our room was on top floor and it even included a huge terrace just for yourselves. The staff is very friendly and the owner is almost always present and ready to help. Breakfast is great with a good and delicious range of buffet food plus omelettes and "tapiocas wraps" available to order and the cook will prepare it for you. We loved breakfast here. We headed to Morro Sao Paulo for few days after here, and they offered themselves to keep our luggage for free as we had to come back to Salvador to fly out. It was very generous and convenient offer from them that eased a lot our boat trip to Morro do Sao Paulo. Please be aware that there is no lift as this is a pousada, but the staff can help you to take your luggage up to the room. After some caipirinhas you have to reach your room by yourself, they do not lift you :) Thanks to the staff of Pousada. We were very happy to stay here.

The staff are lovely, always greet you hello and goodbye, they make omelettes for you at breakfast, they are always willing to help. The breakfast is delicious, fresh fruit, delicious cakes, beautiful bread and omelettes are made to order. Highly recommend.

"Cozy and quaint "

10.0

Stayed here for 2 nights. What I like about this place 1. Friendly and helpful owner 2. Centrally located at Pelo 3. Excellent breakfast spread 4. It is also an art gallery, and the place is well decorated with art pieces 5. The pousada has a charm with each room decorated with artwork and poem 6. Best of all, I love the old 'cuban/buena vista social club' jazz music that the owner plays at the restaurant Be prepared to have ear plugs because there might have loud percussion or music from the bars nearby during the night. I highly recommend this pousada A Malaysian traveler

"Excellent location within the old town Pelorurinho"

10.0

Mr Washington and his staff made my stay in this small inn memorable. Mr Washinton is a painter and every month he sets up an exhibition for other painters in the public area of the inn. The inn is located centrally in the old town of Pelourinho which has been rehabilitated and made the art center of Salvador. You will hear live music practically in all streets of the town at all times of the day coming out of the old buildings. During the four nights I was there there were musical events every evening: samba, jazz, ... The area is well protected by the authorities. The inn itself is in a very old building and relatively small and so are the rooms. Breakfast is simple yet in a nice setting with old rehabilitated furniture tastely chosen and classical music in the background. One can admire the month's painting exhibition while eating. There are plenty of small restaurants close by.

"Charming pousada"

10.0

We were fortunate enough to find this gem of a place during our stay in Salvador in July. The owner and staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and the location is perfect if you are looking to be in close proximity to the wonderful bars and restaurants in Pelourinho. It's in a very safe area- I was able to walk around at night by myself and the streets are very well lit. The walls in the pousada are adorned with charming pieces of artwork and the rooms are beautifully presented and maintained to a very high standard. I would highly recommend Solar das Artes Pousada!

"Well located"

6.0

Well located and safe in the Pelourinho. The staff is very friendly but doesn't speak so much english or spanish, complicated to interact. We had a clean and nice bedroom but unfortunately so humid! The breakfast is nice, you can ask for extra eggs! You can get a taxi drive there and back from airport for 280RS, drive is about 40 min. Tips : Don't hesitate to ask for their help to carry your luggage upstairs!

"Cozy, charming, well located"

8.0

I found this little "pousada" in tripadvisor and I was expecting more or less what I got so indeed the previous reviews are spot-on and there's little I can add. The hotel is located just a block away from the San Francisco church in a no-traffic no-through street, near the end of it so in principle it should be quiet (more about it below). Each room is decorated around a given artist. It is a old house so the ceilings are high, the walls are thick and the room is ample. As we went in we smelled a bit that humidity typical of closed spaces that haven't been used in a while, specially in very hot and warm places (although someone had slept in this room the previous night). The bathroom is newly renovated, also with plenty or room and light. Breakfast is simple but copious and fresh. Service overall is very friendly and helpful (from the waiters at breakfast to the manager who sits at the front desk in the mornings). We were well taken care off. The only thing I didn't like about this hotel is not the hotel in itself but the location. Pelourinho is a very nice part of town to visit, going out for some beers at night, museums during the day, there's some fine dining and both architecturally and culturally it is a beautiful place to see. However, it is very noisy indeed. There are many percussion schools, cultural centers, capoeira and candomble centers around the neighborhood so it's no surprise that there's a "batucada" group just a couple of houses away from this hotel. We had a "batucada" during all afternoon and then a Samba round in the evening until around midnight. Since we spent there only one night I cannot say if we got unlucky or if this is normal. It wasn't any special holiday though. Notice that what I am describing as something I didn't like might be exactly what others are looking for in this area!
