Diamonds Athuruga Maldives Resort & Spa

We loved every moment in Athuruga! it was an amazing stay! The property is beautiful with white sand, the best lagoon and a very beautiful house reef with easy access from the beach. The food was amazing with 2 restaurants to choose from (buffet and a la carte). This was our 6th time in the Maldives and our favorite. What make it so special were the people that worked in the resort. They were all genuinely nice and worked very hard to make our stay wonderful. Our special thank you to the administration for the free upgrade to the water villas and to Mr. Nizam for going the extra mile to make us even more comfortable. We would like also to thank: - the water sports personnel for the free guided visits to the house reef which was a magical moment; - the water villa restaurant employees, specially Mr. Mohamed for the great service and the Chef of both restaurants for the very tasty food; - the cleaner of the water villa 6 for always taking great care of the room and always being so nice to us. We plan to return again in the future.

The chairs in the beach need an upgrade.

This our 4th trip to Athuruga and it was wonderful. Generally most staff remembered us. Food is very good, mostly Italian to suit clientel, but with themed nights (e.g. French, Asian, Maldivian). Fresh juice every morning and charcoal live grilling station is A+ (Titu's fish and beef especially). Junior suites has additional day sofa bed in the room and WiFi included (which normal beach villa does not). Rooms also have two wardrobes with lots of hangers which is super nice. Night turndown service is good to change towels and sweep floor sand at end of the day etc. as some other resorts do not provide this. House reef on both sides of the island, but corals have not survived climate change :(, especially compared to last year. But still lots of fish with the potential for eagle, manta and stingrays plus lots of hunting tuna, moray eels and the odd octopus. The marine biology team there are also trying to replenish the corals. Snorkelling gear, kayaking, SUP and daily yoga is all included. Dive centre is amiable to requirements and requests for specific dive sites. Would come back again!

Junior suite layout is inconsistent, one of our rooms had a full day sofa bed and table, the other had 2 sofa chairs only and a coffee table. Bathroom wash basin water was very smelly, especially first use in the morning (although this has never happened before). Snorkelling masks are good, snorkelling fins need an upgrade but still usable. You are at the mercy of TMA for sea plane transfer and can wait between 1-5hrs for your sea plane flight based availability and delays (this is based on multiple trip experiences). Limited variety of non-alcoholic mocktails, would have liked a sweet wine option too. Wish fresh juice was available all day. And need an exhaust fan for charcoal grilling station for the chefs health.

quiet resort, good beach and snorkeling, enough activities to keep ourselves busy, food was fine and somewhat diverse enough for a week stay. staff was really attentive to our needs.

villa need a bit of love and care. water smells sulfure and have to run tap open for few minutes before smell is gone.

You feel like the most important person in the world from the first step when you arrive to this magical island. Interior decoration of this place is like a dreamland. The bed and linen and general room fittings is super luxurious, the bed is the most comfortable I have ever slept in! Best ever beach with crystal clear water. Every dining was wonderful experience. The staff always greets you with a smile. We will most certainly be visiting again.
