The Peacock Hotel

Called 1 hr before check-in and told that they didn’t have a room for me, and that I should cancel my booking, via booking.com. Complete shambles, ruined the afternoon event I had come to the area to enjoy as I spent most of it trying to find a suitable room for the night. Don’t make the same mistake I did. If you are stopping in the area don’t use this place, find a place that knows how to run a hotel, not this bunch of amateurs.

Every time I stay here the staff are really progressional and very welcoming. always they always make a good effort to accommodate us on our stays and seem happy to be doing so.the Rooms are always affordable and rather comfortable , we’ve not got any complaints from the 10+ times we’ve stayed here.

Clean, comfortable, and conveniently located, this hotel was a great value for the price. The staff were friendly, the room had all the essentials, and the beach was just a short walk away. While the walls were a bit thin, overall it was a pleasant and hassle-free stay.

The room were spacious and the atmosphere was so good. It was completely worth the price. The staff were too friendly and I liked the food available at the hotel. The entire hotel especially my room was so clean. I booked a 2 room and it was completely worth.

Was expecting the hotel room to be awful after reading the reviews but my room was ok. Needed a cheap place to stay for one night and it fitted the bill. Decor a bit weird but bed comfy and room was quiet. Also upgraded to a double bed from a single bed for no cost. 😁

The down side. Water pressure in showers is very low so hard to get a decent shower( walk-in no bath). No heating on in whole Hotel at anytime, Individual room heates are wall mounted and pre-programmed. Mine did not work even after Hotel staff tried to programme the heater. sanother Hotel without heating - is this now the normal just save a few pennies and risk poor reviews.Sunday afernoon in the Bar - not open because the staff were tired and wanted to rest.Breakfast: continental is not what is expected, ( add a few small croisants and call it Continental) English Breakfast - very poor - over cooked fried egg, undercooked sausage (raw in middle), Bacon dried out and hard. Yoghurt Was nice. On the positive side. Great location, clean, friendly staff when they appeared. free car park. Best wifi speed i have ever had in a Hotel. If they sort out the few downside snags it would be a classy place th stay.

All set to travel. Room paid for. Only to get a phone call from them the day before telling me that the room is no longer available. Only to see my room then on booking.com for £20 more that very day! No reason given other than the room is no longer available. I had it booked for 6 weeks prior. Avoid staying here. They are dishonest.

Quite simply appalling!! My room was up a dirty staircase that smelt of old food. I opened the door and was greeted with the smell of black mould every where. There was no hot water, the toilet sounded like it was about to explode, the walls were paper thin, there were pubic hairs all over the towels and if I’d come by car I would have slept in it instead. In the end I had to sleep fully clothed with the window fully open and got 0 hours sleep. The manager was quite frankly rude and offered me a £10 discount….that doesn’t even begin to cover the PTSD. Not fit for purpose….please please please don’t put yourself through what I had to.

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. I booked a twin room - one month in advance of our stay. Drove 9 hours / all day from North of Scotland to be advised they didn't have the twin room we requested. We were shown to a double room with a mattress on the floor. When we told them it was unacceptable, they moved us to another room with 2 large beds but it was absolutely horrendous. The room was completely filthy, dirty beds, chairs, carpets, towels, smelly toilet and shower was broken. We decided to sleep on top of the covers due to hair and other debris in the beds. There were used chocolate wrappers stuck in the side of one of the mattresses, empty raisin packs on the floor and crayon scribbles all over the walls. See photos

Noisy, squeaking floorboards, outside and nextdoor, humming noise throughout the night. Bed was comfortable but not the pillows. Dated furniture, radiator not working in bathroom. Poor shower unit
