Chunda Palace

Chunda Palace is a stunning property with an amazing view over the lakes of Udaipur. Decor inside is gorgeous and adds to the historic experience. Staff is the best thing about Chunda Palace. Everyone from the main reception desk to the restaurant has been extremely helpful and welcoming. We got royal treatment from the entire staff. We want to pass our thanks to Regalia who has been the best waitress we met during our entire stay in India. She made each of our meals much more enjoyable. Food options are also amazing, especially for dinner, although breakfast is heavy on Indian food (obviously, we are in India after all). However continental options were bit limited. Also the main reception staff has been very helpful. When we complained about noise in our first room, they immediately moved us to a different part of hotel and upgraded us which was a nice touch.

So here comes the hard part as staff was doing all they can to make our stay comfortable. They were so kind and amazing that I hate to complain but I feel like I need to give an honest opinion. I would say that hotel is not 5* - maybe 3* using European scale. Why do I say this? First of all, some of the appliances are very old. Hair dryer was remembering the 70s and barely worked. Sink was leaking. Electricity plugs were falling out of the walls. Not all of them but still - this is not a standard of a 5* hotel. There is also a lot of construction work and workers were cutting tiles just outside of our room at 9:30am hence why we asked to be moved to a different room. Also the kettle has been dirty inside so when I saw what came out of it after boiling water, I never used it again. After the upgrade, we had a better room but those faults were still occurring. For the same price we stayed at Leela in Mumbai which was much more luxurious and deserved the 5*. So here I have to give it 3*. But all in all it was a great stay and I would probably recommend it to friends going to Udaipur - with a caveat that actual standard is bit lower than the official rating.

Amazing breakfast, superb food overall, hospitality top notch, property as a whole is an experience in itself; our desire is to just come to stay without any other agenda, some day!

La ducha sin mampara se desborda e inunda todo el baño

Rooms are splendid. Everything is lavish and large which is very different from other 4-5 star properties.

Breakfast buffet should have more food items.
