We stayed here twice while we were in Portugal, and I am elated that we did! The rooms are spacious, breakfast delicious, and customer service incomparably fantastic!
The impeccable customer service began right after we booked our stays online, which was a really simple process. Denise contacted us to give us information about their location and transportation from the airport. She scheduled a driver to pick us up from the airport and take us to the hotel.
Goncalo met us at the airport, welcomed us, helped us with our luggage, and took us to Casa do Bairro. He was very kind, patient, and efficient.
Drivers do have to have special access to drive on the street where the hotel is. The black taxis with blue tops do have this access.
Because we arrived before check-in time, our room was not quite ready. However, we were checked in and allowed to leave our bags. The gentleman who checked us in was very kind and professional. He shared different sites that we could walk to from the hotel and answered our questions.
To get to the main street, we did have to walk down 2 steep hills; that equals walking UP two steep hills to get back to the hotel. However, it's a very short distance.
The hotel is in the perfect location. We walked to Bairro Alto, Alcantara (a bit far), bus stops, train stations, Pink Street, Time Out, etc. from the hotel.
There are so many shops, restaurants, bars, etc. within a 5 minute walk from the perfectly located hotel.
Once we got back from exploring the area, the Cape Verdean gentleman walked us to our room and helped us with our bags. He was super knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and professional! Plus, he spoke English PERFECTLY, which was really helpful.
Our room was spectacular! It was one large room with two king-sized beds, a desk, a seating area with two chairs, a wardrobe, a television, a minifridge, a coffee machine, and two Juliet balconies.
The bathroom was big! It had double vanities, a huge tub, a small separate shower, a bidet, and a toilet (of course).
FYI, there were no robes or small face towels. However, there are house shoes provided.
Because we were celebrating our anniversary, we received a kind note and a complimentary bottle of wine, which we enjoyed. THANK YOU, Marcus!
Each morning, we had a delicious homemade breakfast spread with quiche, made-to-order eggs, coffee, tea, fruit, creme de nata, cakes, casseroles, etc.
Special thanks to Rui and the reservation team for accommodating our requests! Special thanks to the Cape Verdean receptionist, the young lady who had just begun her job there as a cleaner on March 31st, the breakfast chefs, and the rest of the team for making our stay extra special.
This is where you want to stay, especially if you are traveling alone or as a couple. The team is warm, accommodating, friendly, helpful, and professional. The hotel is small (only 12 guest rooms), quiet, quaint, and clean. The area is super safe and nearby the main attractions, bus stops, and the train station.
We're planning to return in October and definitely want to stay here again.
