La Kukula Lodge

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We would recommend this to anyone. The location is perfect.

Wir haben nach der ersten Nacht von unserem Standartzimmer umgezogen in die Appartement welches sich über dem Familienzimmer befindet. Die zusätzliche Investition ist unser Meinung nach auf jeden Fall das Geld wert. Es ist voll ausgestattet mit separater großer Küche, einem großen Bad und einem großen Zimmer mit zwei Doppelbetten. Die davor liegende große Terrasse ist ein absolutes Highlight. Einfach Traumhaft. Abgerundet wurde das ganze noch durch die wirklich sehr freundlichen Gastgeber. Frühstück ebenfalls sehr gut. Wir würden das Apartment auf jeden Fall wieder buchen. Uneingeschränkte Weiterempfehlung

Kind of in the middle of nature, as the property is gardenlike jungle and green between the trees too. Very nice. Nice wooden cabins, large and made with care.

The room safe was very old and the electronic was off so you got a key. It looked like an old hanger key. Not very soundproof rooms which was somewhat nice in relation to jungle sounds but maybe not in relation to neighbor rooms sometimes. Temperature was nice during my stay, no need for A/C then.

Having stayed at La Kukula Lodge four times, I can say without hesitation that every single stay has been wonderful. The peaceful jungle setting, the warmth of Sonya and Pepo and the staff, the beautifully designed spaces, and the quiet sense of belonging all make it a place I return to again and again. Nestled just steps from Playa Chiquita and minutes from the town of Puerto Viejo, La Kukula Lodge sits in a rainforest setting where you wake to birdsong and fall asleep to the gentle hum of the jungle. The setting strikes a perfect balance: you feel truly tucked into nature while still being close enough to enjoy cafés, local restaurants, and beach time, so you have all the tranquility of the jungle without ever feeling remote or cut off. It’s also in an area of Costa Rica that isn’t overcrowded with tourists — just a relaxed, authentic Caribbean atmosphere. During my stays, I’ve experienced the magic of being surrounded by wildlife right from my own private deck. Each room has its own hammock, and at night I relax there listening to the sounds of the forest — frogs, insects, and distant nocturnal calls blending into a rhythm only the Caribbean side of Costa Rica offers. It is a deep, grounding kind of peace. The lodge blends beautifully into its surroundings — simple, natural, and thoughtfully designed. Th room reflects that perfectly: warm wood, soft natural light, and an open feeling that makes it part of the jungle rather than separate from it. The open-air dining area is surrounded by greenery and open to the breeze — a lovely place to enjoy breakfast and feel the day begin slowly. The pool, wrapped in jungle plants, offers another quiet place to unwind. Everything was perfect.

Desayuno normal, comida típica de la zona. Muy cordial el personal . Te facilitan toallas para llevar a la playa Nuestra habitación/cabaña tenía disponible el uso de piscina. Fue una suite que tiene una habitación amplia con 2 camas de 2 plazas, baño y cocina. El comedor y sillones estan al aire libre, techado.. En el área de desayuno hay agua caliente y fría a disposición. Las instalaciones estan insertas en un parque selva muy lindo, con senderos pavimentadas casi todo la zona. Tuve la suerte de ver monos.. ennla noche conversan muy fuerte los monos y las ranas. Ubicación muy cercana a la playa, puedes ir caminando..

La habitación estaba en un segundo piso, íbamos con maletas, mi cuñada sufre de dolores en las caderas y nadie nos ayudó a subir las maletas. Los autos quedan a unos 50 metros de la oficina central y desde ahí hay senderos que te comunican con las cabañas. En nuestro sendero hay sector con piedras. No hay aire acondicionado, y el calor en la noche es difícil de aguantar

Excelente ubicación, muy cerca de la playa, pero con privacidad

El único punto de mejora es el horario del desayuno. Muy buen desayuno, pero se podría servir un poco mas temprano
