Great base for walks in the Lakes, excellent breakfast and highly recommend the Steak and Ale pie for dinner

Room was very small and in need of updating

Breakfast excellent. Evening meal choice a little limited (most things come with chips and minimal veg/salad). Decent beer selection. Good service.

The food does take quite a while to arrive. The restaurant and bar areas are nicely furnished but the rooms are small, basic and tired

Couldn’t fault dinner on Friday evening. Food was very good and service was good. On Saturday evening we had to wait a long time as the restaurant and bar was very busy. There was not enough staff to cope with demand. Breakfast was excellent on both Saturday and Sunday mornings

The fact that there was no additional staff as the staff were obviously struggling and visibly stressed

The bed was comfortable

Lack of breakfast, poor tv no remote, dirty shower, lack of staff, dangerously close to busy road when stepping out

Location is great

Restaurant service for evening meal and breakfast rather slow. Bacon, black pudding and hash brown really overcooked. Hand cut chips with evening meal were hard and inedible as if they had been left heating up rather than freshly cooked

Good location for an overnight stay on my way home from the Lake District

Room was a little dated could have done with tastefully updating
