"You cannot judge a book by its cover"

6.0

Nadia,The proprietor of this warm and charming hotel readily admits it needs work. It is old but CLEAN and in a very good location. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. Our luggage did not arrive from the US. Nadia's spent days helping us trying to locate it. When it did not come, she had the famous local chocolate tears of St. Joan d'Arc for me. The breakfast/cafe is very good. And all of Nadia's staff is gracious as well. There is a language barrier which is aided by the Google translator. We had great fun with that. I cannot say enough about her helpfulness and graciousness. And the mattresses were good. I know she will turn that old building into a shining star for Rouen. We were lucky to have stayed there.

"Only if on severe budget"

2.0

Location and price are the only things that help this place. It was not a pleasant experience. I will never stay again. My experiences from other similar priced hotels were far better, perhaps it is the location within city.

"STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP!!!!!!!!"

2.0

Stayed in this hotel the weekend of the 11th of Jan. I had to go back to France in emergency to see a family member who suffered a stroke and was in CHU Charles Nicolle. Looked for an hotel close by and this was a very good location. And that's pretty much all about it. Room 8 was not clean and of a very poor quality. Some food left overs found in the bedside table, some cigarettes found in the desk draws, bedisde lamp fixed with tape, a phone number on the wall just in case i needed a friend for the night, a very poor quality bathroom that look like it was gonna fall to pieces if you touched it. The noise coming from outside as well as inside the building is a nightmare. Was awake most of the night. The only good point is the breakfast i would say but that's all. The management is of a very poor quality. When i asked them for a refund due to the cleanliness of the room not being up to scratch i was given a 10€ refund. And that's all i got. They even told me that if i wanted a room that was clean i should have stayed at the Mercure Hotel accross the road. Hygiene is a basic for me even if you pay 55€ a night. I have reported the hotel to the police for non compliance with the contract between me and them. And also reported it to the national board of certification in France. This is a very poor hotel and would recomend anyone to stay away from it.

"worst hotel i have ever stayed at"

2.0

after waiting for many minutes at the deserted reception desk, I was finally greeted with a grunt by a male receptionist zipping his fly. He looked as though he had just stepped out of bed, and was definitely in a foul uncooperative mood. No lift means access is almost impossible for disabled, injured or elderly visitors - and the sole receptionist wasn't willing to help. Plus the hotel was mis-represented when I booked. Wifi apparently wasn't available when I checked in - not at all !!! Not to mention the state of the rooms !!! Great location, no parking - certainly spoiled my holiday in Rouen - which I cut short to one day and have no intention of returning

"Not going back"

4.0

Rooms are not that great... Wifi, try to access it, once you found it... People that work there are not really helpful. Last time I wanted to book a room by phone, they told me I had to come get the room because they wouldn't save it for me otherwise. WTH ?? You CAN not eat in all the rooms. Toilets are not good

"Great location"

6.0

It is hard to beat the location, one block from the cathedral. The room was of decent size, by the French scale,, meaning one can cully move. A problem common to French hotels: no elevators; we had to shlep our bags to the third floor. Th hotel is not recommended for motorists. It is located inside a pedestrian zone. One can drive in by calling a intercom type thing at the barrier, but one has to drive out immediately after unloading and park at a public underground parking half a mile away.

"Bad smell in room"

4.0

Hardy travellers. Had read reviews and therefore had low expectations, but was unwhelmed even so. Upside: great location for discovering town. Friendly staff. Clean seeming rooms. Downside: terrible smell in room, probably from the toilet or drains. The toilet was in corner of room with plastic concertina blind, toilet had strange flush that didn't do the job and that backed back into the pan. Yuk! (was in rm 12 if you want to avoid)
