"Fantastic May Holiday"

8.0

We visited Pirates Village during the May school holidays ourselves a family of 5 and another family of 4 with us. We had a superb time! The pools are fantastic including slides and some are heated with lifeguards on site at all times. The food is good - we went all inclusive! Entertainment is amazing! Shows every evening apart from 1 with the pirates, mini discos and more! The also do a range of daytime activities including Mermaid Lessons! Hotels rooms are your basic holiday room but what more could you need! Although we were all inclusive they still have facilities for self catering in the rooms. Only had an issue with the shower water stopping but that can be expected during busy times such as just after the pool closes! Overall we had a blast and will definitely visit again!

""ALL INCLUSIVE" means nothing here."

4.0

This holiday has not lived up to its expectations. We have heard some wonderful things about Pirates Village before we decided to book here. The families that have told us so much good things about Pirates Village could not believe what we have told them from our experience. It is not an "All Inclusive" holiday! Everything is charged as extras. Simple things like the Mermaid experience for our two young girls was an extra €40! Which we paid as we couldn't not let our girls experience it. The Two front row tables at each evening show were €40 and €30 extra, most of these table were empty because everybody we spoke to think the same as us...an absolute disgrace! Charging extra for popcorn and advertising the ice-cream which were €4 each!! I've never experienced an All-Inclusive holiday where they charged extra for things that should be included.... hence the name "ALL INCLUSIVE"!!! We have talked to a lot of families during our stay here, most of which have been back 3 and 4 times! They all told us it was never like this before, and this would be their last time coming back! Whatever has happened to this hotel over the past year or so has made it so much worse for so many people. This even shows with a lot of the staff working here. They made us feel very uncomfortable with their attitude towards us and other guests. It felt like we were on the clock the whole time watching the time in-case we were getting close to the cut off time for breakfast, lunch and dinner, where the staff were lifting our plates before we were finished and telling us “It’s closed" anytime it came close to finish time! We ate at different restaurants for the last 3 days of our holiday because we didn't feel comfortable eating in Pirates Village! I don't know if anybody will read my review here, but I hope someone does. This has been a very disappointing holiday for us, and we will not be returning to Pirates Village. To say we had a bad experience would honestly be an understatement!

"Best Family Hotel in Santa Ponsa"

10.0

If you have young children, this is hands down one of the best themed hotels you can find. We spent a week here and our kids (ages 8 and 14) were completely amazed from the moment we arrived. The pool area is the absolute highlight—tandvthe upgraded poos are amazing e The entertainment team deserves 10 stars; they put so much energy into the daytime games and the nightly mini-discos and pirate shows. This was our 6th visit and already booked for next may, Devastated we couldn't get our usual large terrace room, but either way it will be an amazing holiday thanks all the staff and the amazing owner who always took the time to say hello.

"All inclusive not so inclusive"

6.0

Hotel is good for the kids, the day time and nighttime entertainment is the best thing about the hotel, the staff are very friendly and the hotel was clean. The food is where it was let down massively, the same cheap boring nasty options every single night with the only thing edible being plain pasta salad and chips, we ended up eating out 5/7 nights because it just was nothing edible or even worth trying. We stayed in a themed apartment which I paid extra for, massive let down again!! I’d of rather saved my money and stayed in a basic room as they was much nicer and more space the themed room felt like we was staying in a hostel with a lot of broken things from floor boards to light switches, curtains and even the walls. The fight for Sunbed’s in a morning was ridiculous they say they remove towels but they don’t it’s a free for all with people even laying their towels out on the grass as early as 8am just for a spot. At night time if you want to sit first or second row for your food or to watch the entertainment you have to pay, not a lot of people did pay leaving many empty tables and while these tables were empty everyone was expected to be cramped up in the bar with no where to sit instead of just allowing these tables to be used, when the manager was not in the bar staff let people sit down without having to pay so I feel the rules was hit and miss depending if the manager was in or not. There is 2 lots of arcades one inside one outside with a note changing machine. Overall the hotel was okay and we did enjoy our holiday but if I was to come back it would definitely be self catering.

"Don’t go All Inclusive"

6.0

Visited Pirates Village as a family of 4 and overall we had a good time. The hotel is obviously pirate themed and the frontage of the hotel and communal areas are really well presented to tie in with the pirate theme. The hotel is situated about 5-10 mins walk from Santa Ponsa beachfront and is surrounded by bars, restaurants and shops. Also, a little bonus is the hotel provides free tickets to either marineland or western waterpark. I wasn’t aware of this until we arrived so this was a nice little bonus. The entertainment at the hotel is brilliant, particularly the nighttime shows, which are really polished professional shows that wouldn’t be out of place at a theatre. The pirates who perform the shows are brilliant and have long days, staying in character throughout. One frustrating part is that you have to pay for the front two rows of tables (between 30 and 40 euros) and sitting pretty much anywhere else will result in an obscured view of the stage. The staff at the hotel are fantastic. Bev the hotel manager always seems to be around and is approachable. The reception staff are really helpful and the bar staff are also great. It seems to be a really small team as you always see the same faces, but they work really hard to make sure you have a great time. Our room was basic and looking a bit tired if I’m honest. There’s not much in the way of theming in the rooms other than a Pirates Village decal above the bed. We were a family of 4 and our room had one bed and one sofa bed, so not really the best size for a family. There is a kitchenette area and it’s pretty well equipped with hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and utensils so you could definitely knock up a light breakfast or a bit of lunch in there if you’re going self catering. Again the room is tired looking, but I think the hotel is updating some of the rooms. The pool area is really fun for kids, with multiple pools of varying depths and a pool with slides. Each pool has a lifeguard on shift and they are really good at enforcing the rules and keeping everyone safe. The hotel removes all sunloungers at night and prevent people from putting towels down to reserve spaces, which is a really good thing as I never had any issues getting loungers, but they could do with more parasols. We went All Inclusive and this is where the hotel fails in my opinion. There is a buffet restaurant that serves food for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a snack bar that serves bar snacks between 1-5pm. The buffet area is relatively small and the food is really repetitive. We stayed for 7 days and ate out for dinner on 3 nights because of this. The food at the snack bar on the all inclusive menu is not good. It’s a very limited menu and the quality of the food is poor. Very poor quality meat for the burgers, toasted cheese sandwiches where the cheese is still cold in the middle and hot dogs. Also, the hotel has one bar to serve all drinks, so the queues are usually pretty long and halfway through our holiday, the hotel staff introduced a ridiculous policy of only serving 2 drinks per person at the bar. This applied to all drinks, not just alcoholic and meant that a family of four would have to make multiple trips to the bar to get drinks for the whole family at the same time or each individual person queues up for their own drink, which only made the queues longer. I really felt let down by this element, you pay quite a bit extra for all inclusive and it feels like the rug is pulled from underneath you once you’ve paid your money and arrived at the hotel. If you’re going to visit this hotel, don’t go all inclusive as it’s not really all inclusive at this hotel. Overall the hotel is a good experience for families and kids, just avoid the All inclusive.
