Hotel Diplomat

Hotel Diplomat, was indeed opted by me & my friend for our family of 3, via the reviews in here and booking.com and others. We had a three nights here and initially i had some doubts of the hotel, but that was very easily ruled out. First thing you need to know is the people in Georgia are a bit grumpy at first, but once you give them a smile and talk to them you might feel different. But when we went in Neena already was a friendly face to welcome. Since the hotel was build long time ago, they do not have any elevators. the Hotel is 3 floors and when you book as a family pray you dont get the top floors. The rooms we got are small but good and comfortable. Toilets are ok and yes for Non European people, it has Bidet Shower. The breakfast was simple, with choice of Fruits, Salads, Bread (and toaster), Cheese, Butter, Ham (ask them for which is Pork for people who has Pork as a NO NO), Cereal, Juice, Milk, Coffee, Yogurt (flavour) etc. and its the same EVERY DAY! Location is in Old Tiblisi, and it is pretty close to city centre (we didn't walk). Its like in a small bendy and elevated street, so taxi is more preferable. I would recommend to use their Guide or Taxi Service by Mr. Karan. what a nice person he is. Very supportive and friendly guy. He gives you a personal feeling. Even though his English language is not perfect, it is ok to communicate with him and he understands. (at some instances we did use Google Translate). We can't thank him enough for the support he had given in our trip. After our 3 days we went to Kutaisi and again had booked a hotel there, which made out to be not what we wanted. Karan was supportive enough 11PM knowing he has to drive back to Tbilisi, so we can find our type of Hotel. If you are using the hotel service for Guide and Tours please request for Karan, if he is available and do tell him Hi from Ahmed (he calls me that even though my name is shaheen) :) Merab was the manager (or owner) of the hotel, very friendly and speak good English.

A nice clean hotel. I arrived in the early hours of the morning and the reception desk was open and willing to help. They arranged a tour for me the following day. A nice helpful hotel with an adequate breakfast.

Diplomat is a relaxing island after a working day. Staff is very friendly ...it was easy to relate with them. Merab, the receptionist is super helpful ...and the kitchen staff has been great. Breakfast fresh and plentiful!

The staff at the diplomat is amazing. Not only did they give me wonderful recommendations, they also arranged for transport to and from touristic sights laying far outside of the city. The room was clean, with a comfortable bed, air conditioning, and full mini bar at an extremely reasonable price. On top of this the breakfast was full of local varieties and out of this world! Only a 15 minute walk from the old heart of the city.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was reasonable, with a choice of fresh fruit, salads, ham and cheese, plus some cereals. Bread was offered, but no toaster. But the housekeeping staff forgot to make the bed for my first night, and there was only the lower sheet. Fortunately I found a duvet tucked away in a wardrobe. The reception staff made a mistake with my booking (I had a copy of the booking), but said it was someone else's fault. There was no lift; I managed ok with the narrow staircases (and taking cases), but it might be difficult for older or slightly disabled people. The staff appeared friendly but without the genuine warmth that I have found in other Georgian hotels. So no, I would not recommend.

This is a very nice modest hotel. The staff is exceptionally considerate, arranging any missing items need for for room service, bag handling, cab to the airport or bus station. I felt secure and cared for. My room was upgraded on arrival for returning and everyone remembered my name. Your not far from Liberty Square Metro, but it is a 15 minute walk or a small cab fare that can be arranged. Your close to the Funicular and Old Town. My room had a mini fridge that was stock and the bathroom is modern, just the carpet is dated and no elevator which is coming soon. I love the morning full breakfast. I frequent Tbilisi and plan to return. The price is a bargain if you travel at this level in the US at all.

I was greeted and checked in promptky. The staff is warm and friendly. The morning breakfast is a full fair, the kitchen will make your eggs and they are western foods in addition to Georgian. My room was small my adequate for a single travelor. The bathroom minimum soaps, but hairdryer. LIberty square and old city. us,walkable downhill about 15 mins, and its a nice walk in the am lots of old architecure, small.shops. but taxi back.

Very nice hotel with great service, perfect breakfast and caring staff.

We had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Diplomat. We are a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids 8 & 4) and we can't fault the hotel. We were in room 37; it was spacious and spotlessly clean. The housekeeping staff were excellent and always waited the extra time for us to depart. The room had all we needed and also a small balcony. 2 very small things that did not impede our stay: the plug for the bath was missing (but we.managed and also took showers) and only Georgian and Russian channels on TV (not important for us). The hotel was very clean and staff were always available to help. The breakfast was good with a delicious and sufficient variety of foods. We were there for New Years so there was even champagne and traditional Georgian sweets. Best of all about this hotel was the outstanding hospitality and support of the staff, most notably Merab, who helped us with everything- transfers, advice, going over and above to help me when I had a cold bringing me a traditional Georgian cold cure. he was kind, professional and courteous at all times and so delightful with our children. Big shout out also to George who was equally kind and just wonderful with our children always playing with them and looking after them. The location of the hotel was fine, approx 20 mins to Freedom Sq walking with the kids. It's calm and peaceful. We arrived to Tbilisi by train and got to the hotel at 8.30am and as our room was free they checked us in straight away with no extra charge amazing thanks.

Better to Fund different place to stay. I really Disappointed.
