Farmhotel Efstidalur

We stayed a second time, this time snagging the family suite. It was spacious and cozy. We ADORE this property. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is perfect. Our favorite residents are the pups; we brought them gifts of tennis balls this year. :) This place is perfection!

It was a wonderful overnight stay!

AMAZING! This was by far my favourite hotel in Iceland. When we arrived we were greeted by the 3 cutest farm dogs (who only wanted belly rubs). After playing with them, we checked in and were given an upgrade to the "Traditional Double or Twin Room, Private Bathroom, Mountain View" -- which was perfection. I would really recommend booking this room as it was very private with gorgeous view and had all the amenities you need. Additionally, I would HIGHLY recommend purchasing the breakfast they serve. Its farm to table and everything is incredibly fresh (eggs picked that morning). Breakfast also comes with a show, as you get a view of the dairy cows chowing down on their breakfast alongside you. Note: The driveway - there is a bit of a hill to get up to this hotel. I drove a KIA and was able to get up without issue - but would caution those who are not familiar w/ driving in snow to use caution.

Loved this charming place! The little cabin I stayed in was so cozy, warm. I was a solo female traveler and I felt completely safe and taken care of the whole time. The breakfast was excellent, the best I had during my stay in Iceland. I also had dinner here (the burger) which was delicious. The staff is friendly and kind. Would definitely stay again.

Love the farm atmosphere and service. Lovely animals all over the farm. We stayed in the shared accommodation which was nice for one night. would recommend upgrading the shared shower. Fantastic ice cream/food!

Super friendly and helpful staff with great tips for the area and advice that helped us get a booking at local greenhouse restaurant. Locally made ice cream before bed was great and this location would suit families with kids as there are lots of animals to see. Accommodation was simple and ok given the price point. Walls were a little thin to hear noise from other guests but thankfully they weren’t loud and it was definitely a kid friendly environment. It’s a little out of town so it was hard to find in the dark but once here it was all good. Recommended stay for something a little different on a working farm and family friendliness on arrival.
