Guest House Matahari

The staff were very friendly which was the nicest thing about the hotel. They were always willing to help with problems or booking. The location is great too; there are many places to eat along the road and excellent shopping the next street up. Plus, the pool was totally worth it! The only "problems" are that our room only had one tv channel and that there was a very slight musky odor. However, we were there in shoulder season (March) where there was a lot of rain so that might explain that. In any case we just bought incence so it was fine. Either way, I would stay here again.

We wanted a cheap hotel and we got it. There was no safe in the room, no daily water, no daily room cleans etc (however, you could request them), no pool, and no breakfast BUT it was really cheap, in a great location, and the staff were friendly and helpful when required. Overall, we were satisfied with our accomodation but I would only recommend to those who aren't afraid of less than 3 star quality.

The gentleman who works in the evenings (Andy) was very helpful and knew the most english. The ladies in the morning, did not know as much english or information about the surrounding area. Overall, the stay was great, the rooms were clean, and the kitchenette facilities are in the room and useable. I would definitely recommend this guest house to others!

Great hotel, has all the basic amentities required for a comfortable stay! And it's in a perfect location.

For me, this was a practical hotel close to the airport. The staff that spoke English were engaging, those that didn't tried really hard and no-one let me down. 4.15am wake up call, 4.30am taxi. Centrally located, hassle free.

I booked this hotel online, so I was a bit sceptical first. But when we arrived there we were very suprised since the room was very nice and clean. No breakfast though, but the hotel is surrounded by many shops and restaurants, so that's not so big deal. Staff was very friendly.

We, 3 family members, have stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed being in prime locality with access to all that you need. It had a mini kitchen which we didn't expect and this added to our joy of vacation.

Staff was terrible, unwilling to help with anything. Internet was non-existent and room was pretty dirty. Also, smoking is allowed in the rooms and you can tell! They did give free bottled water though so it's not all bad! Plus the location is pretty decent too. There are MANY other hotels/hostels/guest houses that offer better options in the area.

First of all, location: Walking distances to all places, food from international (many options in Matahari Kuta Square) to traditional (famous Warung Made or along Raya Kuta Street - soo many option and also Kuta Traditional Market for best photoshoot and tasty local food) Situated in Tegal Wangi Street, which is one way street, really quite at night, really good for night sleep For me, the most important thing is, close to the Airport, really convinience! My next visit, definitely staying in this place and the accomodation it self: You can't compare with other fancy hotel, this is only 'Guest House' class, not even single Star, however, for 'Guest House' class, you can't beat with other especially for their cleanliness (room+bathroom with hot water shower), aircon, good size of flatscreen telly with cable...Bedsheet...everything. This is enough for me, because the reason you come to this Island is to explore, not to just staying in your room!!!

expensive for the poor facilities (no swimming pool, bedroom without window) in a very noisy area, dark street, I do not recommend this hotel! there are many better and cheaper hotels in Kuta!
