"Decent Hotel in Downtown D.C., and you get your money's worth!"

I liked that the Hotel is squarely downtown and for that price, a few minutes walk from Dupont Circle, and there a variety of eateries just around the corner from the hotel. The room was neat, nothing fancy but practical. AC worked perfectly and the WIFI is excellent, except on the days when it rained non-stop. The room is not very big, but sufficient for a lone stay. Shower was great with enough pressure.

"For the price, it was good. The rooms are clean and nice."

In the night time the reception is toooo dark (it was around 8 pm). When I reached the hotel on the first day, it was a night time, and I was alone by myself, as woman, I got scared of how the reception and entrance is dark and narrow. But tomorrow morning once I came down to reception I felt more okay while it was more bright. My lights on the night time is suggested.

I checked in at Baron Hotel on 21st June and checked out on 25th June 25. I have to pay for 4 days. On the 21st of June around 0630 to 0700 evening time, I and my wife reached the Hotel reception. While checking in the receptionist there told me that ONE day payment was already deducted. I have to pay upfront for the remaining 3 days and a 150 USD as a caution deposit for any incidental damage. I paid 150 USD with my credit card. I asked, can I pay the 3 days room rent by cash. He agreed and I paid USD 360 USD by cash for the remaining 3 days stay. But surprisingly, today, 15 of July 2025, the Boron Hotel charged my credit card for USD 360. I wrote an email to the Boron Hotel explaining the incident. Since I did not get any reply, I called them on 001 202 293 1887. The gentlemen recognized me and said that a fraud happened. And I have used somebody else’s card to pay 360 USD on 21st June. And the lady who owns the card called them and reported the fraud, so, they reversed the money and now they have charged by credit card with that amount. I explained to them this not the case. I did not understand how I could use somebody else’s credit on the swiping machine physically there. I told him this is not the case; I paid for the Hotel in cash. The reason for me to pay by cash was two. I was in my last leg of visit to the US. And I had some cash left. Second reason was, since I am using a credit card from Qatar, the conversion rate over credit card expensive. By cash I have pay the exact amount. The receptionist happily received my cash. But today when I called over the phone, the gentleman said no I have used somebody else’s credit, so fraud has happened. I asked him to check the CCTV footage and verify I am paying the cash. He said he will. I may request the Boron Hotel mngmt and Booking.com to investigate this matter. This seems either reception on 21st June evening did not show the cash to the book and is scripting this as fraud case. This takes away faith .

"We were misled, double charged, and completely ignored — a frustrating and unacceptable experience."

Location.

We felt completely deceived. Upon arrival, we realized that although the location was good, the place itself was not suitable — especially not for families with children like ours. We requested to cancel the reservation directly at the front desk, and the receptionist informed us that the amount would be refunded. However, not only was the amount not refunded, but we were also charged twice. Since then, we have tried to resolve the issue through multiple channels: I’ve sent emails, tried contacting the hotel directly, and even filed a formal complaint through Booking — all with no response or resolution so far. This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. We do not recommend this place and expect an immediate resolution.

Interesting place. Staff was nice. Elevator fits 1-2 people max and is difficult (take the stairs). Location is perfect. There was a roach on the floor so they definitely need to treat for bugs. Water takes a while to get hot. The place is OLD which is a great appeal but needs little TLC. I would 100% stay here again !
