The lodge is a huge fenced property with zebras and monkeys walking around. The reception area with the restaurant is simply amazing.

The houses are a little outdated and might need some refreshment. We booked 3 cottages and there was Ala very strong smell in one of them. Also the pool was a bit dirty and not welcoming.

Insgesamt war das Essen lecker und die Mitarbeiter sind super freundlich. Es war sehr ruhig innerhalb des Reserves.

Frühstück musste schon 1 Tag vorher genau ausgewählt werden, was man möchte. Die Auswahl wurde dann sehr sehr knapp serviert insbesonder Aufschnitt. Auch das Abendessen musste immer als 3 Gänge Menü vorab gebucht werden, daher sind wir lieber am zweiten Tag in das naheliegende Blue Mountain Restaurant mit sensationellem Essen und guter Aussicht gefahren. Die Gegend und die Attraktionen/Wanderungen am Blyde River, sind rotz Eintrittsgelder sehr heruntergekommen. Das betrifft nicht direkt die Unterkunft, beeinflusst aber für uns die Lage. Der Hippo Trail ist nicht mehr zu gehen und das Infocenter oberhalb des Staudamms ist zwar offen, aber sehr veraltet. Die Straße existiert auch nur noch aus dicken Steinbrocken und Schotter, der kaum ohne Geländewagen zu pasieren ist.

The quietness around the hotel

Poor cleaning of bathroom Very hard beds - have never experienced this before in a hotel Outdoor sitting area where you are close to the river had not been cleaned to days or weeks. In the topfloor you could see from the ground that is was a storage area that had not been cleaned for a very long time. It took very long time before the food came to our table - applies for all meals. Up in the roof at the restaurant is was not clean either, so I expected someting to fall done to my plate.
