Booked for one night as we had an early flight leaving from Lisbon the next day. We chose this guest house based on the location and a good price for the area. We arrived about an hour before check in and the attendant was happy to let us into our room. The twin room was pleasant, comfortable and very clean. It had a balcony window which opened above the street just off Praça Rossio but the noise from the street was actually quite minimal, although obviously there was some (this was a Saturday night in June). The shared shower room was very clean and everything worked well. There is also a communal kitchen area which we were told we could use with some restrictions. WiFi in the room worked well, reception was available 24 hours a day (another receptionist saw us out when we left at 4:30 for the flight). Location is great if you want quick access to central old town bars, restaurants and shopping and it is very close to Rossio train station, metro stations and the taxi rank. For the price this is an excellent guest house and it will be my first choice next time I stay in Lisbon.
We booked Downtown Guest house for 2 single beds. They gave us a double bed so we queried. They offered us their sister Baxia Guest House as no twin beds at thier guest house. Noted they have done this before to other guests so annoying but was aware possibility. Both guest houses are similar and ideally located. Staff great. Bathroom had left over Shampoo. Bed had occasional ants as near balcony. Balcony door did not shut as broken so annoying. We were on 3rd floor and no lift but they took our bags up. Curtains thin and noisy road traffic but i had ear plugs and eye mask so not an issue. Safe removable and no instructions. I could handle all of the above for the location.
We enjoyed our visit very much. Very pleasant and helpfull staff, good location, close to public tranportation, shopping, restaurants and suppermarket. Only drawback, no elevator so it is hard to do steps to the higher floors, but overall very good.
