The Globe Hotel

Problem with room but given free upgrade, very friendly and helpful reception staff

Davvero un hotel carino e confortevole, sono stato molto bene qui. Ci tornerei molto volentieri.

The staff were incredibly lovely, the breakfast was delicious and not a bad price considering it is all you can eat. The only down side was that there was no air con, in this heat wave that we're having that would have been the cherry on the cake. Everything else was wonderful, the bathroom was very small but SPOTLESS so I feel like that's fair. The room was very big with lots of room and a large bed, a TV and storage. We only stayed one night but would have happily stayed for more. Colchester town centre is a bit rowdy at night, but I'm pleased to say that this hotel is away from it all!

Für eine Nacht und den Preis akzeptabel. Die Stadt läßt sich leicht zu Fuß erreichen.Geschäfte in unmittelbarer Nähe. Wasserkocher und Kaffee/Tee auf dem Zimmer.

I remember the Globe from 20 years ago, which is why we chose to stay here. Unfortunately the place has zero character any more. There are no directions to where the rooms are and its like a maze going up and down stairs. The bathroom in our room was so small you had to twist around the sink to use the loo! The shower did not drain either, meaning you could only have a 30 second shower before it flooded. The lights were all on one switch so there was no chance of a reading light. It was either glaring or nothing. There was no tv remote (not that important I know) and when we asked about it, the ladies could barely be bothered to respond. As there had been an error when booking we had one room rather than two but when we asked to change rooms to the other one they said the hotel was fully booked! This was within 5 minutes of us cancelling the second room. Clearly she didnt even check and was unaware that we had 2 rooms booked initially. Overall a rather jaded trip down memory lane and not one I will be making again.

I was happy with my stay at The Globe, certainly for the price it was absolutely fine. A little dusty in the corridors and the shower drain was a little slow but nothing that would affect the experience. Very nice, friendly staff.

Everything was just fine. The bathroom was a wet room setup and the water didn't drain away to well. And they changed my TV remote straight away when I found it didn't work.
