Courtyard by Marriott Ottawa East

I reserved a room at that hotel through the Hotwire.com US based site. I tried to change or cancel the reservation because the date of my wife's medical appointment in Ottawa was changed. I contacted the hotel and they coldly refused to even consider my request. They instructed me to channel my request through Hotwire. I did. Hotwire told me that despite their demarche Marriott rejected my request. I also asked Visa to make the same approach to the hotel. All of this was to no avail. Now on the day before the reservation Marriott keeps reminding me that they are impatient to welcome me. I find this whole circus in very bad taste. It shows that large American corporation have no heart.

Hotel is large, well located and provides great underground parking (if you can find a spot). The guests aren't managed...we were there during a hockey tournament and these people ran the place and were extremely rude and disruptive. The staff were lovely people but there are too few of them to keep control of rude and unruly children. The elevators don't seem to work even though there are like 3-4 of them, we only ever say 1-2 in operation. The rooms are outdated and the bathtubs have rust. We asked to move rooms because of the rusty tub and then next one was no better and it had a dirty rag hanging on the shower curtain rod. The beds hurt our backs. I wish I could say one good thing. We tried to eat there for dinner but a bunch of hockey people were being rowdy and drinking in the restaurant and we couldn't get anyones attention to take a seat. So we left. I'll never go back there again and it has ruined my opinion of marriot

I stayed 3 nights in the courtyard ottawa east hotel in December 2025 and had a pleasant time there. Spacious rooms, nice facilities (amazing gym on the top floor) and very kind staff at the reception. Addtionally, in my view the location was perfect as nearby the Ottawa main train station and only 3-4 stations by underground to the city center. Didn't try the breakfast though. The price (approx. 165-170€/night and per person) was also OK. Overall, very much appreciated my stay there. Many thanks to all!
