Hotel Convento Tarifa

Great location. Couple of minutes walk away from Tarifa old Town gates. Hotel itself is impressive as is the lobby areas etc. Room was basic but clean and even though we arrived quite early we were able to check in.

The hotel is at the center street of Tarifa. Walking distance to bars, shops, and the ferry or port. Night life in Tarifa is quite vibrant, weather in June was very pleasant. We took a 2pm ferry crossing Gibraltar strait to Tangier, and back to Tarifa at 5pm the same day. Did not join any tour. Felt Tangier was quite a safe city to visit, the taxi driver took us to the coffee Pali(?) spoke fluent English and was very nice. When taking the return ferry, after security check, don’t forget to stamp your passport, otherwise you will be send back to do it, and could miss your boat.

Great location. Easy walk to Port of Tarifa, great restaurants, and the historic area. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Quiet clean and well designed hotel. A Very pleasent stay.

The hotel was clean and cheerful. Staff was helpful. Now the bad stuff. Don't take a room facing the street. It was crazy noisey with motor bikes mufflerless cruising all night. The drapes allowed alot of light in the room also. Get a room off the street or go elsewhere.

Hotel is on a main street and almost hard to find. But when you step through the front doors its spacious and quiet. Staff was extremely helpful on helping us set up trip to Tangiers and finding some good hikes in the area.

We had good experiences in our 2 recent stays at this hotel. It is well maintained, very clean and our room had the biggest and best bathroom of any during our travels in Spain. Great bath towels too! All the staff we dealt with were courteous and friendly. It is well located just 100 yards from the gate into the old town of Tarifa. We would be happy to stay there again and to recommend it to others.

I was traveling with my 16 month old daughter. So that's the perspective. First, this hotel has a great location. Right outside of the old city but with direct access by car. I traveled during off season and had no issues finding parking on the street within a two minute walk. Note that you cannot park where the curbs are yellow! The staff initially did not seem that helpful. They left me to my own devices and have me short answers. However, when I asked them for recommendations, they were thoroughly helpful and quite lovely. I booked the junior room and it was very spacious. The bed was large and regularly European firm. There was plenty of closet space and the bathroom was large as well. The bathroom doors were frosted as opposed to solid doors. I had no difficulties with the internet. As for the bad, there are emergency lights all over the room and they are bright!!! So bright that you do not need to turn on lights when moving around in the darkest of the night. I managed to cover two of them with a coat and a garbage bag but unfortunately, could not reach the third because the ceiling is exceptionally high (even when standing on the back of the couch as a 5'7 individual). It is stated that the rooms are sound proof but this is not the case. I had both fans going on high, a sound machine and soft music playing and my baby still woke due to the noise coming from inside and outside the hotel. And it was just regular street noise, no construction.
