Benbow Historic Inn

This hotel is fantastic. I choose a room with a balcony overlooking the river and a historic bridge. Antique furniture fills the room and you are welcomed with a carafe of brandy and two glasses. The bed is so comfortable. Then, right upstairs is a great restaurant where you can get all meals, you don't need to go anywhere. There's a park along the river immediately by the hotel, to extend your walks.

Dinner was great

The room 212 we just stayed in from October 18-20 had a bathtub shower combination. The smooth floor bathtub needs to have a floor mat in it to keep your foot from sliding when stepping in. It was frustrating to step into the tub only to have my foot slide on the floor towards the back wall of the tub which caused my other leg to slam into the outside of the bathtub. Having to go down to the front desk to ask for a floor mat for the tub when it should of been in the tub from the beginning needs to be addressed for safety issues. For the price of the room per night, a bath mat should have already been there and not have what looked like rust stains on it when unrolling it in the room after getting it from the front desk. Slipping on the floor of a bathtub is quite common. A sidenote: Thanks for having scones and tea complementary downstairs each day, but how can you enjoy that service if you were only there for a single night since it's only available between 3-4 p.m. and check in is at 4 p.m. which means you just missed it and check out is at 11 a.m. which means you are not a guest anymore. We had scones two out of three days since the first day we already missed it since it stops at 4 p.m. Everything else was fine at Benbow Inn.

The history of the Inn is really cool. I like the antiques in the rooms as well as how they have maintained the early charm with decorations.

I would have liked a complimentary continental breakfast with the morning coffee.

What a lovely, fancy, fairy tale place! Lovely grounds and we had a nice place to sit near the river at sunset. We loved the bar!! Great cocktail, fish & chips, and friendly people! We also loved hanging out in their huge "living room" after dinner. Great, friendly staff.
