OYO 1836 Hotel Shila International

Location was very good.

Poor ventilation. Food was a little bit stale

Location was very good. Staff was polite and humble, we booked online it's better to book offline.

My room was not upgraded.

It is a basic hotel for amenities but the service by the staff was exceptional. Indrajit was so friendly and helpful. Also the man who helped us to get another blanket and change to a nicer blanket late in the evening when we check in made us glad we chose this hotel. We ordered the breakfast and it was inexpensive but hot and tasty.

I like the behaviour of the staff. The room and the bathroom size were decent. Nooodles is good to order.

Ordered a double king bed; however, it was 2 single beds attached. The room mattress was not cleaned. The quality and cleanliness were really bad. The window glasses in the bathrooms are not good and is stuck.

I am a foreigner who has never been to Kolkata. I randomly booked my room because the Shila is both close to the Kolkata Metro and the Victoria Memorial. Luckily, I was very impressed with the service at the Shila. The concierge greeted me with fresh juice and helped me every step of the way. Breakfast was delicious and my room, while small, was clean and had crown molding and vintage mirrored beauty dresser, which gave it a hint of classic old Kolkata nostalgia. My friend, who is more knowledgeable about the area, said that the neighborhood was safe for walking alone at night. I highly recommend Shila International.

Everything was in line with the price.
