The hotel isn’t bad. It’s clear that it used to be very good about ten years ago. Now, the passage of time is visible— a lamp hanging off the wall, a battered shower cabin, a torn sheet, hairs in the sink. In a word, there’s a certain level of neglect

the smell from the kitchen everywhere in the hotel.
