"Not a pleasant stay due to the lack of hot food for dinner and for breakfast."

5.0

Room was tiny and bed was very uncomfortable.

I turned up expecting to be able to book an evening meal and a cooked breakfast but was told that the kitchen was closed on a Monday and Tuesday so no hot food. As I am diabetic I need a decent meal and had not eaten a full meal during the day. The kitchen being closed was not on the listing or on my paperwork so I feel that there is an issue there as I would not have booked the hotel had I known about the kitchen being closed.

Posizione fantastica con una bellissima veduta del mare.

Forse le camere non bene insonorizzate.

Staff were very helpful.

Sadly the breakfast took far too long and they hadn’t seemed to set up in time.

"Comfortable and the building is a lovely mix of old & new. Staff were all lovely."

good choices

Cooked breakfast options are sat in a 'warmer' for some time so was a bit dry. I get it, staff & running costs are up, but the breakfast is quite important to get right and its an easy fix..

"Bed and Breakfast... but no breakfast"

3.0

Natalie, the only member of staff on duty, had to deal with arriving guests and drinking regulars... and did it all with a smile. I couldn't fault her and really wished she'd had some support. I'm diabetic, which is up to me to control, but I hadn't eaten much earlier in the day, expecting to eat when I got to the Manor. I was starting to crash. As I say, my fault, but Natalie was great. I explained my issue and she got me a bowl of cereal, fruit juice and strawberries. That kept me going overnight, until I found somewhere to eat the following morning. I hope Natalie realises that the negatives in this review have NOTHING to do with her professionalism. She was fantastic and couldn't have done anything more.

Apparently the chef doesn't work on Mondays and Tuesdays, so there's no food at all when he's off. This place is proud of the quality of It's food, so I arrived hungry, expecting a decent meal. There was nothing!! Other visitors also arrived, hoping to book a meal. So why was there no notification? Had I known there would be no hot food available when booking, I would have booked somewhere else. I was told that I would get a bit of a refund for the food issue. I haven't seen it yet, but the money isn't the issue for me. Refund it, or keep it, I really don't care. I did ask for a full refund and said I would find somewhere else for the night. That was refused. I left shortly after 6am the following day, to try and find somewhere where I could eat. I'm going to be back in this area for a few days next month, so I need to book somewhere to stay. I don't know where that'll be yet... but I can 100% guarantee where it's NOT going to be!!

"never to return"

4.0

The bedroom was clean and comfortable. The staff, when encouraged were friendly and eventually helpful.

This is not a hotel. The restaurant and bar service closed at 18.00 (they had the benefit of a function that day and thought they could just close) and breakfast was delivered to your room in a bag before 21.00 the night before- Covid -style.

"Disappointing."

4.0

Ate the carvery when we arrived Sunday afternoon / eve which was plentiful. The view is beautiful. The staff tried to be accommodating and helpful ( Natalie especially ).

Our room , the bed and the shower room were very small. We booked in January - bed and breakfast - as the location was perfect for our SW coastal path walk. On arrival , we were informed the ' breakfast ' would be a packed lunch of a 1 bagel, a bag of crisps ( !) , a piece of fruit and a juice drink. We filled out a form with our choices but said we were not happy with this as we needed a proper breakfast for our walk to Boscastle that day. No feedback was given to us about this. Got up Monday - no staff, no packed lunch breakfast. The new manager - Andrew - happened to be around outside the hotel. In fairness he was apologetic explaining the hotel was under new management and gave us a refund for the breakfast payment. And afew bits and pieces he could find in the kitchen to eat on our way. If you booked Widemouth in advance there is no breakfast provision Monday to Thursday we were told. Check with the hotel before you stay.
