Residence Inn by Marriott San Juan Capistrano

My room was very noisy, very loud air conditioner and frequently running train.

Perfect location who wants to be close to ocean with a good price

BEWARE. One side of hotel is against the super loud 5 highway, you will hear noise. Even worse is the other end of the hotel backs up to the railroad track. We had an expensive two bedroom and for five nights the train honked the horn while flying past our window every hour or so ALL NIGHT LONG. Thurs/Fri night were terrible. We talked to the front desk and they said they usually warn people but we were not told so we could not move. We asked for fans to use as white noise. They brought one fan that was obviously broken so we had to take it back. The front desk told us they would tell the manager and "see what they could do" and we never heard from the manager and they did nothing. The breakfast was small but ok, the room nice but if you like sleeping go elsewhere.

All round great but spa was not working. Delayed response just before July 4th. Many customers not happy. Staff did everything but management needs to have parts and maintenance staff to fix within hours, not days.

Great hotel. Close to shops

I am writing this review to express my displeasure with Marriott & the Owner of this specific Residence Inn for what I consider is price gouging. My wife & I have stayed here for a couple of nights every summer. We always stay either a Sunday/Monday or a Monday/Tuesday so we are staying not at the most preferred nights to get a good rate. This Residence is absolutely awesome! Close to Doheny Beach & the staff is friendly & professional. The rooms are always clean & well kept. So why the 1 star review. The atrocious price this hotel now charges. I have a Marriott credit card that I bank points on all Fall, Winter, & Spring so I can enjoy a couple vacations at the beach every Summer. I always use to get a 2 night stay for 35000 points or less a night off peak. Much to my surprise when I went to book a room today that the points to stay on a Sunday/Monday night was 94000 points! That’s 47000 points a night! Ouch.! I have not collected that many points over the last 7 months using my Marriott rewards credit card. I only have 77000 points. OK, I will just pay for night right? The nightly AAA rate is now $332. As a retired Coast Guard Veteran I just cannot afford this Residence Inn any more. Does Dana Point have a Motel 6? I don’t think so. I just want to vent my frustration that this wonderful Residence Inn has priced itself out of my range to be able to stay here anymore.
