The Castle Inn Hotel

Lots of character and staff were helpful, professional and friendly.

Bedrooms were really hot: there was a fan in the room but insufficient in heatwave.

Clean spacious bedroom . Good evening meal.

A bit short staffed at breakfast time and not enough tables so very slow .. hopefully a one off .

The village is very picturesque and the pub cum hotel looks very good from the street. The room I was allocated was not in the main building but in an annex across the parking lot. It was initially quite hot and stuffy but equipped with a free-standing fan that, with opening a few windows improved it a lot. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom small but functional. The breakfast was really very good and the breakfast staff were pleasant.

The reception is the bar and the check in experience could really have been much better. The main person who was meant to check me in was on a long call and eventually the barman checked me in. The barman was good, but overall the service both at check in and at dinner was quite poor. The food was edible but not outstanding and I did not feel like it was good value. To be fair I didn't order the specials of the day and it could be that I chose badly. I had an asparagus dish that sounded excellent and looked good on the plate, but the asparagus used wasn't good.

Very welcoming and friendly host. The hotel is clean and tidy. Great breakfast, plenty of choice. Looking forward to going back for another stay..

Hartelijke ontvangst en we hadden een ruime lichte kamer met ruime badkamer met douche en toilet. 'S avonds nog heerlijk gegeten in het restaurant.

De ramen konden helaas niet open.
