"A good place to stay in centre of Chepstow . HISTORIC BUILDING"

9.0

The pillows were exceptionally soft and the bed comfortable. It was a single bed but OK. The bathroom was a good size with a large basin. The table for the kettle was small but the kettle was a large one. There was a large wardrobe with a ironing board, hairdryer, and iron inside. It was right in the centre of town, the church, the castle, and shops were within walking distance. The bus stops were up the hill near the historic arch and the railway station was accross a busy duel carriageway but about twenty minutes walk away. The trains go to the Forest of Dean (Lydney and Gloucester0 and Severn Tunnel Junction (change for Bristol and South West, London Paddington and on the Portsmouth Line to London Waterloo Via Salisbury. Newport Cardiff and Maesteg ( Valley Line ) are possible on the same train. Steam Trains run from Park End just outside Lydney. There were ample electric sockets

The staff expected me to have a chest of drawers and a bedside table NOT IN MY ROOM. .There is no lift in this hotel but it is an historic building built before 1800

"It was a pleasant stay ."

6.0

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The bar pleasant.Location was good.We had lunch which was goodbut no evening meals

The bedroom was ok.The shower was very bad, very little flow and no where to put soap. There was no hand rail to help with balance and getting in and out.The bed was old and the mattress lumpy and sqeaked. One leg did not reach the floor so bed tipped up if you sat on the end. It was a shame there was no evening food.

"Great location"

7.0

The staff are the backbone of this hotel, friendly, approachable and helpful. Whilst not an up to date, luxury establishment it has a faded charm about it that modern buildings could never emulate. It was, for me, a very convenient location.

Some original parts of the hotel building probably date back to C 17th century so there is no lift (elevator for those from across the pond). This is a little awkward if you have a lot of luggage or are a solo traveller. Having said that I'm sure a member of staff would be more than willing to assist.

"Wasn’t very impressed"

3.0

The location was great The manager, Michael was so lovely The shower was big

It was pretty dirty, especially behind the bed The bed was super uncomfortable and the headboard was very loose. Had to sit sideways on the toilet as it was very cramped The TV only able to watch a few channels as it wasn’t a smart TV so the reception was bad The free WiFi signal was very weak so unable to connect.
