Carlton Lygon Lodge - Close to Melbourne Uni

The location is amazing and staff were nice and friendly. Price was good but theres a catch!

Unfortunately the renovations make it a very uncomfortable experience. Unless you plan on being out of the building every day from 8am to dark I would book somewhere else while the rennos are underway (until 2028).

Great location

The bed was very uncomfortable. I could feel the springs in the mattress all night, causing me so much pain. The doona had stains on it. The room was not at all what we expected. Got woken up by construction using power tools.

The location

it's a building site. from 6.50 am in the morming continuing all day through to after 6 pm.

Bed was a little to hard, pillows were too soft woke up with a sore neck most days

Not the cleanest. Bed wasn't that comfy. They did state that they were undergoing renovations, but I wasn't expecting the mess around the hallways etc to be as bad.

Fantastic location. The room size was really comfortable and the kitchenette had everything we needed so we could prepare some meals!

The room wasn't particularly clean. The carpet is old, and yes, they are currently renovating, but it really needed a good vacuum. Some of the bath mats were not super clean.

I’ve travelled with booking.com for years dozens of countries dozens of accomodation facilities this was the WORST experience I’ve EVER had. I was treated so badly by the front desk and hotel manager who kept me waiting late at night for hours saying I wasn’t able to stay and he had to cancel my booking. He snickered at my distress which given it was 11pm at night this was completely foreign and confusing to me made me feel humiliated as bf unsafe. The more distressed I became at the fact this was completely confusing to me I’d driven for four hours to get there and was exhausted he seemed to get a safistuc kick out of my crying and made me feel belittled. I asked him why this was happening and due to language barriers I couldn’t get a reasonable answer. I wonder what on earth is going on at this downgrade establishment. Never ever stay here … I called bookings head office in the uk four times and managed to get the four nights I booked refunded but it took until 1sm and then had to sleep on a friends floor. Awful experience I think booking.com should not partner with hotels like Carlton Lygon it’s unsafe for women particularly travelling alone !!
