Lakaz Chamarel Exclusive Lodge

Very natural and serene location. Green, charming and eye catching. Convenient and stylish lodges, open air shower and pools. Kept closed to residents only, so feels like you almost on your own there. Great view at sunset from the bar atop the hill. Staff are best from what you could expect. A-la-carte menu and wine list in the main restaurant is fairly good and actually one could spend a few days without leaving the premises (we stayed for 2 nights). All-in-all makes your stay memorable and we will stay here again for a part of our journey next year.

1. Breakfast not super abundant but will not leave you hungry. Coffee quality is poor for both at breakfast or extra. Feels like it is both, beans and milk stardard which could benefit from an upgrade. 2. Nothing to do with a stay, more like organisational feedback. The property should want to take better care of their personnel who are doing a great job every day. We stayed during very hot and humid days. Noticed that for not one, but for several employees their uniform had very strong odour. Presumably, for not being washed after days of hard work in the hot air or in the restaurant areas. Because there are distances and meters of altitude to cover so many times each day, no wonder that becomes a physical workout too. Because that is not a single case but was for a number of people, and because we did not come across that at 5 other places where we stayed after, that is definitely not individual, but organisational element.

WOW. First of all, the owners/managers and staff are so friendly and welcoming. When you drive into the hotel grounds it is like arriving in some kind of garden of Eden. They have beautifully landscaped the grounds so it’s full of a diversity of native plants and birds, even better than the botanic gardens in many ways! If I had been there longer I would have enjoyed using the fantastic gym facilities and free yoga classes. I had one of the Mountain View rooms with a private pool and it was incredible. One of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. It was large with a spacious terrace. Gorgeous outdoor shower. They left body oil and scrub which was a really nice touch. There was a really nice shared pool area too which was never busy. I really enjoyed sitting after dinner next to the fire pit and reading my book. The sky was clear with a great view of the stars and at dusk you could see all the fruit bats flying over. The view bar was really good, great cocktails and lots of free snacks brought round! And of course a great view. I drove down to Le Morne beach which was gorgeous and had some good snorkeling right off it. Much quieter than other beaches I visited further up the coast. I went to the geo park and waterfall which were lovely. With more time and some cooler temperatures I would have liked to have explored some of the hiking around. Amazing place I will recommend to friends and family, I hope to get the chance to go back.

Nothing, it was perfect!

We were in awe from the moment we found the gate to the time we left. The Lush Garden truly offer a magical and relaxing environment. Breakfast and Dinner were excellent. Lunch we ordered once but to be fair there were local restaurants around the area in the local village worth a try too so going half board was perfect for us. Room - amazing view, outside shower was a great touch and the bird life was heartwarming

I always miss having a normal fridge when I am in hotels but this is my issue.

Stunning location in the mountains, tranquil and beautiful with a gorgeous view overlooking the mountains. Food was delicious and the staff was very kind

Note there’s no air conditioning, but it wasn’t needed. Also, there are no visitors, including when you’re just picking up family members.

Good local atmosphere. Very personal service by the staff members.
