Snowy Owl Inn

The property needs an overhaul. Feels very outdated.

My family used to stay at the Snowy Owl in the mid-90’s and it was fabulous. We switched to another property that could better handle our family. Decided to give the Snowy Owl a try as it was only my wife and I traveling. It appears that there yet again new owners and all attempts at modernizing the place have ceased. The rooms, while clean enough, date from the 1970’s and it shows. Everything is worn. Rooms are lacking the basics such room darkening blinds ( they have cheap mini blinds) so you can forget sleeping in if light bothers you. The offered “ Continental” breakfast consists of stale looking bread and mini donuts and week old apples and bananas. Dining area was not clean. Hard pass on that. Hockey kids were in the hotel, but were fairly well behaved for a change. There are no pools at the hotel anymore, they have shut both the indoor and outdoor pool down. All in all, if you want to stay in WV, I would do a VRBO or before any of the hotels in the valley, because they all have the same problems.

The add said swimming pool but did not see that to use it you had to drive 2 miles for it, «  big disappointment », no ironing board in room, ac and heat really bad, cannot control the temperature for it, just not what we expected

The staff was great! I had to ask for iron and ironing board, and the receptionist was on top of it!! They called to advise me about the shuttle offering to the wedding reception I was going to. Loved my room and the lounging areas. Will definitely go back!!!

Breakfast was pretty plain.

This property is old. 1970’s with no renovations. The roof needs replaced on the entire property as there are signs of leaks everywhere. Felt very dusty! Workers/owners very nice and efficient. Breakfast food was fine.

they say they offer 1 day Freedom pass and then they charge $22 / person in the invoice. I calles to complain that I wasn’t informed about the cost and was told I had to inform in advance they I didn’t want it. this is very sneaky and I feel scammed. never again in this hotel. about the bedroom, the blinds were broken and the blankets very old and not protected in cleaned bags. they looked used. the heating is the AC device and very noisy and not really heating the room.
