Grand View Hotel

The bathrooms were dirty. We had to be moved to another room because our TV wasn't working. Our new room had a sink with a huge hole on the side. Thankfully, the staff seemed to be helpful. Also, it's called Grand View, but there were no great views. It's not a good place if you're into stargazing, as the hotel lights stay on all night.

Great staff and location

Location is good. Service at the bar was good. Staff were attentive and friendly.

When we arrived, there was a function occurring. While pre booked and pre paid, there was no parking available. Bags had to be carried 300m. Friday evening meal from Bistro was very basic for price paid. (has been better in past). Even though pre booked and paid the room offered was very poor. Entry door only just cleared bed, no bedside table on that side of bed. Shower rose needed us to re-tighten so that water did not spray everywhere. Shower drain didn't work and we found it clogged with hair. Noisy corridor floorboards only 1m from bed. Service/cleaners cupboard directly opposite door to room resulting in noise at odd hours. Air con compressors for building system on and off during the night. For the same weekend on the 2 past years, our experience was acceptable. This year we sensed a much greater focus on bar service/facilities at the expense of accommodation. Our experience fell well short this year.

Staff were friendly and the food in the pub is great

I should have researched better realising it’s part of a pub. If you’re in the mountains for an ultra marathon early the next day, the music downstairs doesn’t help getting an early night.

Po przybyciu do hotelu przywitał mnie przystojny męski recepcjonista. Na parterze budynku można napić się piwa, zagrać w bilard (trafiłem na miłą parę młodych ludzi), a w ciągu dnia zjeść obiad (polecam rybę z frytkami). Obiekt jest świetnie położony, w pobliżu wejścia na przyrodniczą Ścieżkę (Szlak) Darwina wiodącą wzdłuż potoku wśród drzewiastych paproci oraz stacji kolei do Sydney. Zarówno w pokoju, łazienkach, jak i przestrzeniach wspólnych było czysto. Dodatkowym "smaczkiem" hotelu jest jego korytarz przywodzący na myśl ten z filmowego "Lśnienia".

Mankamentem obiektu jest brak windy, którą można by zgrabnie wkomponować nawet w tak zabytkowy obiekt, jakim jest Grand View Hotel. Brak śniadań rekompensują pobliskie kawiarnie. Wspólne łazienki na korytarzach nie są wielką niedogodnością pod warunkiem, że w hotelu nie ma zbyt wielu gości.
