Slieve Russell Hotel Golf & Country Club

Brilliant stay! Could not fault the hotel or services!

Stayed on a Thursday night and it was very quiet. Visited here 20 years agp and it was as if time stood still. Large bar area but once you had your food order taken, the table service was non existent. We had to go to the bar for extra sauce etc and drinks. No background music so was like a morgue. We had a Brie and chicken ciabatta at lunch and it was lovely but a Ceasar salad later was very poor , with dry chicken goujouns. We went to the pool in the evening but there was a children’s swimming lesson in session with a lady shouting instruction as the top of her voice. We waited for the class to finish to discover that there was another one to follow, so we left. It was a pity no one informed us of the classes while we were signing in.

Room me and my girlfriend stayed in was very nice big open space nice bathroom big deluxe Queen size room and overall the whole venue was an amazing experience thank you very much Slieve Russell hotel 🙂👍

The food was excellent and service also very good. However, the fridge in the room was dirty and we had to clean it to store more water. Also, I booked a room with a view of the golf course and this was not accommodated which was very disappointing.

Room was lovely except no window to open in the room so was very stuffy

The hotel was fantastic and set in beautiful surroundings. The staff were excellent and extremely helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

I have a lot of time for the Sl. Russell. In fairness, it's a great location, beautiful grounds and entrance to the hotel, great golf course. Management have started to reinvest in the property - new showers, new carpets, painting obvious in some of the corridors. We had a great room and a great view. Now the areas for improvement: - breakfast can be improved. On Saturday morning, at 10am it was out the door and clearly not enough staff to meet that level of custom at that time. 1 rotary toaster: really! Either serve the toast to the table along with tea/coffee or put in extra facilities. On Monday morning, it was quieter yet we were left waiting to be seated for 5 minutes. I was looking for cheese/meats which were not replenished and when I asked the waitress was less than enthusiastic. - the main restaurant needs updating/major overhaul. The curtains, wallpaper, etc are jaded and some painting and attention to detail is required. - I like the bar and the food is good. However, again some corners of the bar need to be tidied up and some painting on skirting boards is needed. - the staff were generally good. However, they let dishes build up in one area for far too long and there did not seem interest in clearing that up and keeping it tidy/awareness of importance to give the right appearance. Overall, an enjoyable and relaxing stay but they need to tighten up in some obvious places.
