Live Oak, Charleston Historic District, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Staff was awesome. Hotel is out of the busy part of the historic district but a 20 minute walk or free bus ride has you there in very little time. $35 to valet park is just plain criminal. But the other option is a sketchy gravel lot or in the road at meters that have to be paid every 2 hours so they are going to steal as much money for parking as possible.

No air conditioning for the stay in May, and again no air conditioning in August 🥵

Staff was helpful. Room was good. It was very clean.

Didn't have the breakfast because they charged extra. The website led me to believe that parking was included in the rate, but it wasn't. I had thought that the hotel would be closer to most of the sites in the historic area than it was. No refrigerator in the room

The staff was great, from check-in to check-out, breakfast staff, and valet.

We were surprised that parking in the hotel was only valet, $35 a night! when we booked it, it did not say that, while there are a few parking meters around the hotel, we did not feel comfortable leaving our vehicle outside due to some sketchy people in the neighborhood or people driving drunk on the weekends. The room was a bit run down and showing its age in the restroom, and last we believe bed bugs or fleas bit my wife, I am not sure, as she had multiple bites in the mornings.

Shower drain came apart making me slip and fall in the shower. Fortunately just a bruise and pulled muscle but could have been much worse. Told them about it at check out and staff really didn’t seem to care or even apologize. Not a good experience at all and not a way to spend an anniversary vacation. Very disappointed. The valet gentleman at check out was amazing and very polite. I will not be recommending your location to anyone that I travel with personally or with my company

I really wanted to like this hotel but unfortunately it wasn’t great. Honestly the front desk staff were nice but kinda had not so good excuses for everything. Checked in and the first room smelled of something strong (not in a good way), and they moved me to a different room right away. Not amazingly better but an improvement. Some reviews complained about the gas station across the street (on Meeting St), but it was actually pretty nice looking, and the liquor store next door to that was a perfect location (closes early, 6:30, luckily just made it). The side street (Woolfe) was an eyesore and hard to ignore. Old room service food was left out for hours in the hallway close to the elevator that either shouldn’t have been there in the first place and also should have been picked up way sooner. People were laughing at how long it had been there. Luckily they didn’t charge an extra night to break the reservation, so after 1 night I booked a same day reservation at the Hyatt which is basically around the corner on King St. It was the exact same price, had garage parking for $18/day (best day rate in the area after some minor research), free breakfast, room on a higher floor, updated room with a kitchen and sitting area, and an overall better experience.

Staff was great, facilities were excellent...

Room wouldn't cool off as much as we would like but it was also 102 degrees outside...
