The Box House Hotel

The hotel is nice. The rooms are small but attractive. We were driving from out of town so we were not sure when we would arrive and we were coming for a wedding. I called and asked for a slightly early check-in and was told it would be $75. When I said that was too much for such an expensive room, Jimmy lowered it to $50 + tax which we paid, but by the time we checked in, we had less than 45 extra minutes in our room. Another friend was told $50 when she asked, so having to bargain when I paid over $550 for one night is absurd and offensive. Jimmy gave us a late check out and I thought he was doing us a favor, but friends said everyone can have one extra hour for free. We ate elsewhere for breakfast because friends said the buffet was not that great. Coffee in the room was not very good. Overall, a clean and comfortable room, but the price is too high for the location and view of a highway.

Hiiiii :) The whole staff was AMAZING but this shoutout is for LUKE. I arrived to the Box Hotel just at sunrise for a summit I was attending for the day... thinking that I could check into my room a little extra early. However, the entire hotel was booked so I was forced to make a space in the lobby but Luke was the tending the night desk this day. He greeted me very kindly, and informed me I would have to wait but made me feel super at home in the lobby. He kindly offered me coffee and told me to just hang out. I'm not sure if he was control of the music, but it was a chill R&B, H.E.R, Summer Walker, Jhene Aiko were playing. I just remember feeling very at home, even in the middle of the lobby at 6am. But then I had to get ready for the conference and Luke, once again, was very kind and let me hog the lobby bathroom for 20 minutes while I could get ready. Then stored my bags safely until check-in later in the day. He really just made, what could have been an uncomfortable/hectic morning, go very smooth. Then at 8am, I even had breakfast at the in-hotel restaurant and it was very tasty! I got the break burrito and went to my conference relaxed, full and beautifully put together. So shoutout to Luke for his kindness and professionalism. It really help start my day off strong. Then I ended my day IN THE BEST ROOM. Amazing views of NYC skyline, with a huge bathroom I was able to decompress in after the summit. THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST STAYS IN NEW YORK I EVER HAD. It was a work trip but the stay at the Box Hotel made it feel like a one-night-only spa retreat and I'm thankful for that. <3

The whole family was in the hotel for a reunion and that was great, and my son, has wife with two small children were upgraded to a large suite which was wonderful.

-The lighting in my room, 214, is dim, and there is no lamp on the desk, so trying to read and work was challenging. -The refrigerator was set so low - not by me, it was set to a low temperature before we arrived and we didn't know it -- that my Coca Cola cans froze and one burst making a mess inside the fridge, and our fruit was frozen solid, effectively destroying it. When I reported the matter upon checking out, the young lady on duty said, "Sorry about that." Nothing more.

It was very clean.

The front desk was not the best. They asked if I was with the wedding, and I said yes, but they gave me someone elses wedding gift bag. There was no blanket or extra pillow in the room, which should be standard. The room viewed the highway. The balcony was not nice, and needs a face lift. the room decor could be nice but bad taste in artwork. Yikes.

The location is perfect for exploring Greenpoint. Excellent service, clean, unique rooms. The city view with balcony was amazing. Would absolutely stay again.

My parents and I were guests at your hotel on April 11. I’m reaching out to you with concerns and a complaint. Unfortunately, due to the constant foul odor of water sewage gases, we were unable to shower, brush our teeth or drink the water. Gina at the front desk suggested I email you with these concerns. I was charged for services we did not receive. There were no resolutions at time of checkout and I was advised by the 2 gentleman with maintenance that they will also report this to you as they also expressed and confirmed our concern. This a violation with the health department. We also did not sleep due to the balcony door not locking until a gentleman came to our room to show us the “trick” which we were not advised of at time of check in. Requesting a refund at this time. Please advise. Update 4/19/26: I emailed the manager Kristina on 4/12/26 but have yet to hear a reply; called Hotel to follow up on 4/15 and was advised mangers were not in this week but that someone would have reply but as of today still nothing. Someone please advise I’m requesting a refund for paid services never rendered. Ana
