Hotel Waterloo & Backpackers

You can’t beat the location and the price. Honestly one of the cheapest hotels in Wellington now. Staff are friendly and helpful and many of the rooms have stunning views over the harbour. I stay here regularly and find it great.

This is an old hotel without a major refurbishment so you have to expect old furnishings and carpets and some broken fixtures, but for a no frills hotel it’s still fine and reflected in the great price.

The location was right in the city centre close to the ferry to Picton and to many restaurants. The room was spacious, and the bed was comfy. The bathroom was good.

The kitchen is a bit dirty because people dont wash the dishes after themselves. There is barely enough mugs. There is no free parking nearby, so you either pay 5 dollar per hour - 3 dollar even on the weekend - from 8am-8pm; or you park your car in Oriental Bay which is a 3 km walk. There is no hair drier in the bathroom, but it can be asked from the reception. The hotel is under construction which will take a couple of weeks (months?).

The water for shower is strong. Location close to the bus stop. Facility is good. Staff cleaning the kitchen are nice and helpful.

Bedsheet was stained and made you feel itchy. Had been waiting for half an hour for check-in. Arranged me a wrong room (a mix dorm instead of female dorm). While the female staff said I can change the room and take my time to move my stuff, I found my old room key was disabled before I moving out everything, the another male staff was impolite and said I should do it the night before. But the thing is I arrived very late at night and I didn’t even know that was a wrong room until the guy sleeping on bed say hi to me. I just wanted to have a rest first and minimise the noise at night but it turned out to be blamed🙃GREAT ATTITUDE.

O ile pokój miał jeszcze przyzwoity standard o tyle części wspólne byly tragiczne. Wspólna kuchnia i jadalnia śmierdziały, nie dało się tam wytrzymać. Personel obojętny na wszystko.
