The Chequers Inn

We received a warm welcome and all the staff we met were very friendly and accommodating.

The attentive attitude of the staff and,as we perceived it, the genuine warmth during the duration of our stay, so much so that we have sent a "thank you card" to the Inn which we felt to be appropriate

Having to leave for home after our stay period expired.

Beautifully situated below stunning woodland and ideal for walkers like me! Welcoming and unfussy. The bedroom was spacious with a good en-suite , nice furniture. Food was excellent all round, evening meal and breakfasts.

My room was above the kitchen so a noisy fan in evening but it went off eventually so no problems in the night. The decor is a bit tired in the main rooms but the whole building is very attractive

Size of room, location, welcome and service whilst there. Car park straight across the road. Lovely friendly bar atmosphere in the evening with garden at rear of property to sit and enjoy a drink or a meal. Very comfortable bed. Spacious bath, good quality towels. Lovely breakfast choices, happy to amend to suit guests, I admit that I am a bit picky. Will definitely go there again.

The bathroom floor was a bit slippery even when dry. Noise from the road, but when we got to sleep it did not cause problems.

Quaint setting. Close to Bakewell and Chatsworth House. Nice food, and beer garden.

A bit cold at breakfast, would have been nice to have the fire on.
