The Rose And Crown

Elham itself is a nice little village with a few quaint pubs, picturesque church and small shop conveniently located opposite the Rose & Crown. Overall we were happy with our stay there, although the carpets in the rooms are tired and the mattresses could do with replacing as they were not particularly comfortable considering the room rate. That aside the overall cleanliness was good with a perfectly reasonable breakfast served in the morning. You may also be pleased to learn that the pub also comes with a very friendly resident bulldog!

The stay was excellent, apart from the weather and the covid restrictikns, which are both out of their control obviously. The barmaid was very helpful as was the manager and all the staff we met. They couldnt be more helpful. Lovely pub, with friendly locals and made us feel at home. Room was beautiful, plenty of space and light and airy. Will visit again, hopeefully with better walking weather.

Check in was a little strange but not to bad room was nice and clean big and good bathroom. My issues where no TV apparently the storm had taken it out. Paid for breakfast which didn't start till 8 which I thought was a little late but got told I'd get a breakfast pack up to take with me but received nothing. And no communication about the TV

A nice country inn. I hope to make it my standard overnight place on my journeys to the UK.

The owners or management team was friendly and helpful.

Must give a mention for 'Debbie' who was an absolute delight and did everything she could to make our stay a pleasant one. The food here is great! well cooked and good portions. Our room was spacious, clean and with very comfortable beds. The only downside is the plumbing!!!! i.e Shower needs a repair as it is not locking on and the cold water tap really needs some urgent work as the noise is horrendous!!!!! This is our third time of staying here.

Interesting room situated in a former stable block, the horses had long since departed and everything was clean and we appointed. Service in the bar was a bit "ello' darlin'" but was ok.

Great cooked breakfast. Nice room decor with big size bed. Cosy and comfortable.

Lovely spacious room with comfortable bed and good facilities. Some quirks of an old building - slightly drafty window and temperamental water pressure but overall a really lovely relaxing space to be in. And great breakfast in the morning - the best eggs Benedict I think I’ve ever had!

Nice place, nice people, nice pub and restaurant, nice room, but there are 2 things that really need improvement: One is the soundproofing: as the rooms are out by the car park, you can hear not just the cars but also every word said by the people walking by Second is the bathroom: towel rails and shelves are in need of repair, but the biggest problem by far is the plumbing. Cold water pressure is way too low, which means it’s impossible to have a shower as the water is either freezing cold or boiling hot. It also means you can’t run the tap in the basin without getting a really, really loud knocking and banging noise. This is not good when either your roommate or your neighbour uses the bathroom in the night or early morning. In summary, it’s a nice place, but needs some work to get back to a 5 star rating
