"It was a little piece of heaven."

10.0

Driving up this lodge, I already got a sense of warmth and homeliness. The decor and furniture gives the lodge a very nostalgic vibe which was so inviting. The hosts, Christian and Ian were so lovely and welcoming. I felt as if I had known them for years. The room was very well equipped and catered for all my needs. The setting is like that from a novel. It’s an absolute gem. I can’t wait to return.

"Can’t keep this place a secret but ld like to. "

10.0

This is a gem of a hotel. I have stayed before and will again. The hospitality is excellent. You are treated as an individual by knowledgeable and skilled people. The food is excellent a hugely skilled chef. Dishes are well thought through and executed. It’s a small family hotel worth as a destination in itself.

"Exceptional"

10.0

Lovely lodge hotel. Very attentive and friendly host. Nice comfortable bed and clean room. Interesting arrangements for dinner, with fixed time for pre-dinner drinks, and fixed time for dinner serving. Excellent food, worth the 54 pounds / person. Large selection of whiskeys in the whiskey bar, with advice given to novices like me. Would recommend.

"Very disappointing"

3.0

Fabulous location Warm welcome from our host on arrival Breakfast was ok

I'm afraid this place is not at all I expected for the price! I'm sure this used to be luxurious fifty years ago but is in desperate need of refurbishment or at the very least, a downgrade in price (after all, a non-flushing toilet wouldn't be tolerated in a bunk house much less a supposed luxury hotel)! Dinner was booked in advance but there was no mention about a very limited (almost fixed) menu. And certainly no mention of the cost (£55) excluding drinks. And the wine list was way overpriced too. The place was very short staffed - maybe Brexit-induced? All in all, a bit of a disappointment all round. And a one-night DBB bill for 4 people coming in at £750 for a hint of faded grandeur is unacceptable in this day and age! Needless to say we shall not be returning, which is a shame because it has a unique location and much potential for boutique luxury. Long way from that currently though...

"Do not recommend it"

1.0

Nothing! We left and found somewhere else to stay

Very dated Net curtains and florals but not in a good way! Way overpriced and not transparent with dining prices! On arrival after a long day we were shown a menu with three mains to choose from while host hid the overall cost (£59 per person) which would be fine if not done in that manner! No sign of staff more like a small b&b type place but hotel’s pricing Very strange and unprofessional behaviour I’m afraid we went with out instinct and left without staying and found alternative accommodation
