Beechlawn Hotel

I booked a table for 6 family members on Thursday 25 June 2026 for 7.15pm. On booking the table I requested a table at the back and was told it couldn't be guaranteed but would see what they could do. I had to pay a £30 deposit upfront for the booking. When we got to the restaurant at 7.15pm it was 8.30pm before the STARTER was served! The service was absolutely awful, the place was packed to the gilders and it was very clear they had let in far too many people and were unable to cope with the numbers. When the starter plates were finally cleared there was another one hour wait for the main meal to arrive. We got our main meal at approximately 9.25pm. The standard of food was just ok and nothing to write home about. This was a ridiculous amount of time to wait on a meal, and no one apologised or advised as to why we had to wait so long for our food. When we finished eating our main meal around 10.00pm no one came near use to take the plates away. After waiting until almost 10.20pm we had to ask someone to remove them and for a menu for dessert. The lady told us we were too late for dessert as the kitchen had closed!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. We were there from 7.15pm and if the service had been even adequate we would not be asking for dessert menus 3 hours after the booking time. We were unable to get anything other than ice cream for dessert as the kitchen was closed. I don't often write reviews but I felt compelled to share my experience on this occasion. It wasn't cheap and the cost far outweighed the level of service and customer expectation! If anyone is planning a restaurant meal, please consider this review and try somewhere else instead. Potential visitors need to be aware. I had visited on 2 previous occasions and it was ok, but this level of service was completely unacceptable and we won't be back.

Very friendly and helpful staff

Location was exactly what I required, although I have to say the bar staff not very friendly. Also I was staying to attend a musical event ant the reception were useless, could not give any information about the event just pointed me the function room 😀 what.

No air conditioning in the room, was incredibly hot and no fan either, service was awful in the restaurant, never got offered a menu or drinks until we waited 30 mins then left. House keeping entered our room without knocking at approx 9am the morning of check out. Bathroom smelt like smoke and overall disgusting. Hairdryer in the room wasn’t working and the breakfast was not good. When we said to the staff at checkout they apologised and said there was nothing they could do.

Friendly staff. Drink prices reasonable and value for money. Room was comfy. Great atmosphere and lots of space. Parking was easy.

No power in the shower, however it was manageable. No fridge in the room to keep water cold.

Good hotel for a short stay in Belfast. Easy access to the city by train and very nice rooms.

Access to rooms is through the restaurant which was very busy and noisy. There is also some traffic noise from the fairly nearby motorway.
