"The Pheasant did good value pub very well."

Location, historic, did pub well. Food quality was good.

Room was very small. Smaller than imagined for the price. We ate at the pub four times so noticed the Table menu holders were grubby. Need an update.

"Spring staying"

"Overall, poor value for money"

The location was picturesque and the main building had character

The food : Although the breakfasts were reasonable (but we have had better at a Premier Inn), the main evening meals were very poor, cold vegetables on the 1st night. On the second night my wife had to complain that her meal was cold and it was replaced. I had a lasagne that was more like minestrone soup. For the 3rd night we decided not to dine at the hotel. The staff: Although some of the staff were friendly I found an assistant manager unprofessional. The Inn Collection group have a 'green clean room' policy whereby if your room does not require cleaning then you can claim a free drink at the bar that evening. The first day this worked well, but in claiming the drink on the 2nd day (Wednesday evening) with a different assistant manager on duty who stated I should have used the 'App' to record the room didn't need cleaning. This wasn't explained to me when we checked in and I felt I was being cross-examined and had to justify the free drink. This verbal exchange took place in front of other hotel guests at the bar. The room: Although stating on the booking that my wife is disabled, we were allocated a room in the annex on the 1st floor which had a steep flight of stairs (for us) to get to. Also, the room had a noticeable gradient in the floor which made all the surplus water on the floor in the bathroom accumulate in one corner.
