Very good accommodation. Handy for York and owners very friendly and helpful. Will stay here again.

Stuart was a very friendly host. He welcomed us warmly and helped us with our parking. When we checked out in the morning we left something in the room & he went out of his way to ensure that he got it back to us the same day. Beautiful area and very handy for Castle Howard and York

They had a small bar downstairs that was really nice. Friendly people. Very good, freshly cooked breakfast.

The room was clean but we were in an attic room and I kept banging my head so I wasn't impressed with the room layout. This also meant the onsuite was tiny. The full English was nice but there wasn't a lot. When we asked for scrambled egg on toast instead the owner told us he didn't like whisking eggs, but he did make them although he gave the impression he rather wouldn't. He was also questioning us about my brother in laws plans for looking after his dog whilst in one of his cottages, which is nothing to do with me. He also wanted us to stipulate a time we were going for breakfast which made me feel I had to be on a time table. Overall gave the impression that we had to work round him which wasn't nice. I wouldn't stay here again.

Staff were very helpful and welcoming. we managed to get into our room early to change to attend a wedding.

Very enjoyable stay. The hosts were very hospitable and kindly dropped us off and pick us up from the wedding venue we were attending. Would highly recommend.

Unfortunately, I think I was really unlucky on the night I chose to book. I turned up at the B and B to discover a wedding party in full swing. I couldn't find a reception or any staff other than those serving the room full of wedding guests at the bar. Eventually managed to speak to a member of staff, only to find they'd given my room away to the wedding party. However, I was given one of the lovely cottages to stay in instead. I cannot fault the accommodation itself - it was lovely, spotlessly clean and very uncomfortable. It was a shame that we weren't told anything about breakfast, checking out, wifi password, how anything worked, local area etc. We were literally shown into the cottage then left. It turned out that the owners were away for the weekend, so it might be that we didn't get the welcome usually experienced by visitors. Understandable- everyone needs a weekend off - but this was mine and my little boy's weekend away and I wanted it to be perfect for us. I get that a wedding party is going to bring in more money than me and my 5 year old staying for one night, but all guests should be made to feel welcome. As I said, I'm sure I was just unlucky with timing because all of the other reviews are so overwhelming positive and I could not fault the accommodation itself in any way - it was perfect. It's a shame because this could have been a great stay if I hadn't had felt so unwelcome/an inconvenience.

lovely b+b room in pub, very comfortable, warm and modern. only downfall was they do not serve food, except for crisps etc.

Clean and tidy room with comfortable bed, excellent host, would use again without hesitation.
